In the beginning…

The following article is the first piece I wrote about Casey and Caylee Anthony. I published it on November 13 of last year. It doesn’t seem like it was a little over a year ago.

The search for Caylee takes a nose dive

I drove down to spend Labor Day weekend with my best friend, Stewart Bacheler, and his wife, An. They live south of Sarasota, on the west coast of Florida. I arrived late Friday afternoon and early in the evening, An started to ask me about the top mom. Top mom, I wondered. “Who is the top mom?” I asked her over and over again.

“You must know about the top mom. It’s all over the news and you live there. You can’t tell me you don’t know about the top mom!”

“No, I’ve never heard of the top mom.”

“That’s all that’s been on Nancy Grace.”

“I never watch Nancy Grace.” I sensed she was getting exasperated. “I guess that means we’re going to watch her tonight?”

Stewart butted in. “Oh, yeah. That’s all she ever watches at night. She’s obsessed.”

Later that evening, she put CNN on to watch the show. Right from the start, it was like a cross between the New York Post and the National Enquirer, but there it was plastered in a banner across the bottom of the screen: TOT MOM CASEY ANTHONY!!!

“Oh. You mean the Casey Anthony story. Sure, I know all about it. I thought you were saying top mom.”

No! No! TOT MOM!

I don’t think there’s a person in the country, let alone the entire world, who doesn’t know about Caylee Anthony, her mother, Casey, and her grandparents, George and Cindy. Poor George. Poor us. In the Orlando area, for months, that’s all we ever heard on the news until the presidential election kicked into high gear. Then, all we heard about was the election and Casey, Caylee, George & Cindy.

Years ago, I used to go to Jay Blanchard Park with my girlfriend, Susan, and her young daughter, Hannah, to find minnows to take home for her fish tank. Hannah might have been 10 or 11 then and it was before she became obsessed with horses. Blanchard Park is a nice, peaceful place along the Little Econlockhatchee River. Or, at least it was until recently. In June of this year, a young woman with a very bright future was raped and murdered there. Nicole Ganguzza, a newlywed and just 26, loved to jog along the trails. Her murder has not been solved.

When the police were informed that Caylee Anthony hadn’t been seen in a month, they focused on where her mother traveled during a crucial date right after Caylee’s last contact with other family members. Investigators looked into pings off cell phone towers that gave important information regarding Casey’s approximate whereabouts on that day. A cell phone is always emitting a signal and as it bounces from tower to tower, it’s telling a computer its location, within the range of that tower. Phone companies keep logs on pings from all cell phones and certainly, she didn’t know that.

Blanchard Park became an area of interest when Casey initially told police she often took Caylee there and sometimes her “babysitter” would meet them or take Caylee herself when Casey was “working” at Universal Studios. Suspicion arose about the park because it’s right on the river and rivers have been known to swallow bodies in the past. It’s not too far from where Casey lived with her parents and she often mentioned the park when interviewed by police.

When bond was set at $500,000 for Casey’s release after her initial arrest for filing a false report and child neglect, a bail bondsman from California, Leonard Padilla, came to her rescue. He felt she would open up if given a chance. She didn’t. She was eventually charged with first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child and four counts of providing false information to law enforcement. Her bond was revoked, she went back to jail, and Leonard Padilla disowned her. She has been sitting in the Orange County jail since and he is now convinced she did it. No one visits her but her lawyers.

Recently, Padilla organized a search party and zeroed in on Blanchard Park and the Little Econ River, in particular, because of a cross found attached to a nearby tree with beads wrapped around it. He said the beads matched some the family owned. Casey later changed her story about dropping her daughter off with the babysitter at a nearby apartment complex when she told authorities that the park was where Caylee went missing when she left her there with her nanny. He hired professional divers to search the river and they have been searching since Tuesday. This morning, I decided to take a ride down there to take a look around. I figured if I can get close enough to get a few pictures to send to An, she would be totally elated. Not only did I get close, I had a chance to talk to good old Leonard and the owner of the dive company, Blackwater Divers, along with some of his men. I told them my story about the top mom to break the ice. I said that it would make An’s day if I e-mailed pictures to her, hot off the press. She’d never believe it.

Please forgive the quality of the photos. I had the camera on the wrong setting and the images were way over exposed and when that happens, the pictures are very red/pink. I did my best in Photoshop to fix them, but, as the old saying goes; you can put perfume on a turd but it’s still a turd.

Todd Bosinski, the owner of Blackwater Divers, was very friendly. So was his dive team. He told me I could ask him anything at all, anytime I wanted. He even gave me his business card. They had been in the water earlier and were taking a break. He said if I could wait for a while until after he did his press conference, he would set up a group picture. I said, sure, that would be nice, but I couldn’t hang around too long. I did ask about how bad the water was to see anything. One of the divers held his hand up to his nose and said, “This is as far as you can see. The water is pitch black.”

“How do you look for anything?”

“We don’t look, we feel.”

“Feel for what?”

“Plastic bags. Anything that doesn’t feel like the river bottom.”

I turned to Leonard Padilla and asked if I could take his picture.

“Sure.”

leonard-padilla

Leonard Padilla

Leonard Padilla was nice enough. He didn’t say much, but he didn’t give off any signals like I was bothering him, either. When a woman wearing a Caylee T-shirt walked up, and I assume she is someone he knows, he invited us to grab a bite to eat.

“C’mon, everybody, there’s plenty of food. We’ll never eat it all. Join in.” Darn. I had just eaten, too, but the table was filled with platters of subs and, probably, a few other things. Then, he walked away to talk on his cell phone.

A few minutes later, I took a chance. I called An and told her where I was. “No way!”

“Yes, I am, and I’m walking over to Leonard Padilla right now.” He was off his phone. “Excuse me, Mr. Padilla, will you say hello to my friend, the one I was telling you about?”

“Sure,” and he took the phone. I know she didn’t believe it was him because I overheard him say that, yes, this is Leonard Padilla. A minute later, he handed the phone back to me. “Here, your friend wants to talk to you.”

“Oh my God!” she exclaimed.

I thanked him and walked back to the area where the others were. I looked at the river and asked one of the other divers how much of an area had they already searched. He pointed at two orange traffic cones and said, 50 yards, down to the blue buoy in the water. I wondered why there, though, since it was so near the playground where Caylee played. Wouldn’t her body have drifted downstream? I mean, my grandparents lost a foster child years ago who drowned. I said they found his body a mile away.

“This water is only moving at about 1 knot per hour. That’s not much at all.” He was right. Ralph Armstrong drowned in the Raritan River, after a nasty rain storm. The water was treacherous. Another guy died that day trying to rescue him. Meanwhile, Todd was being interviewed by local TV stations…

The following three photos show the orange traffic cones, the divers getting ready to go back in the water, and the area where a bag was found later in the day, after I was gone. I took the final picture of the river because I knew that was going to be their next place to look.

The area where the bag of toys was found today

When I was leaving the park this morning, Leonard Padilla was walking to his truck. I asked him when he was going back to California. He mumbled something I didn’t hear. I asked him if he would stick around as long as it takes. He said, “I already said too much. I don’t need to be saying much more right now.”

Later in the day, I heard about a bag with toys and little bones that was found in the water. No way, I thought. I was there earlier and now this. How could I miss such a scoop. Heck, I could have been rich and famous, just like a particular bounty hunter I know! It turns out the bag held no bones. Now the police and FBI want to question Leonard Padilla and give him a lie detector test. I guess they are wondering whether the whole thing was an attempt to make him a little more rich and famous. Was it a plant? One thing that was allegedly found was a shamrock. Casey has a tattoo of a shamrock. Caylee loved shamrocks. Police were very upset he contacted the press with the find and not them first, plus the time and money wasted on a false alarm when local and federal officials showed up at the scene. My guess is the press remained there all day and were readily available when the false alarm surfaced. Padilla is going back out in the morning to continue his search. Earlier, rumor had it that he suddenly left the area and headed back to Sacramento. Tim Miller, founder of Texas Equusearch, told Nancy Grace that Padilla asked him to help with some of their divers, that big news was about to happen that would make them both rich. Miller said he didn’t want any part of it. Of course, Padilla denied the charge. Do I think he planted that evidence? He would be a fool to pull a stunt like that. Why would he jeopardize his career by baiting the authorities? No doubt, he enjoys the press attention, but I don’t think he’s stupid. Besides, from the time I spent with him, I didn’t sense any anticipation. He didn’t act like a man waiting to reel in the cops and media. It could have been a sad joke placed there by someone else looking for a big fish to fry.

When Cindy Anthony was asked about the cross and beads attached to the tree, she told reporters that they have been there for months, placed there soon after Nicole Ganguzza was found dead. That’s rather funny, because I had never heard that news before. Funnier yet, because it’s not close to where her body was found.

I didn’t stumble across you when this was originally written, but read it way after it was. And I found “TOP” Mom hysterical.

I would cringe when I used to watch Nancy Grace and she would refer to Casey as Tot Mom!

  • Linda From New York // November 15, 2009 at 11:02 am

Well, you are still #1 !

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 11:16 am

I’ll tell you, Linda From New York, I was never one to watch and listen to screaming people. Of course, I knew who NG was, but I had never watched her until that night. Then, because my interest in the case began to grow, I watched her night after night until I could no longer stand it. She’s not alone in that field. I can’t watch FOX NEWS because everyone tries to scream over everyone else. It’s nerve racking.

  • Olive // November 15, 2009 at 11:24 am

I never watched NG until this case either. She is unbearable most of the time and is one who spreads mis-truths for the sake of ratings. I haven’t watched her show in quite some time now and have no plans to do so in the future. To me, she has an odd way of being there for the victim, and being one herself, I can’t believe her paycheck means more to her. JMO

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 11:35 am

That she is, Olive. She’s much too caustic. I know I can be, too, but there’s a difference between writing and screaming. No doubt, her paycheck is very important, but I do think she is into her work, too. Which one comes first? Beats me.

  • Vicky // November 15, 2009 at 12:38 pm

When ever I want time alone in the family room, I turn on Nancy Grace. Within minutes, the room is cleared. Then I change the channel. LOL

  • Olive // November 15, 2009 at 12:51 pm

    Vicky ~ LMAO! :-)

  • Newbie // November 15, 2009 at 12:55 pm

    Vicky….you little devil….lol….lol….

  • New Puppy // November 15, 2009 at 12:58 pm

These pictures bring “Caylee Marie Anthony” back to forefront in my thought. Thanks

  • Newbie // November 15, 2009 at 1:17 pm

Dave, I just had a problem casting my vote under the News category. After clicking the “vote” I got a line telling me that voting again would xxxxmy last vote….I had not voted for you today. I was able to vote in the overall blog category but still have not been able to cast my vote under the News category.

  • Newbie // November 15, 2009 at 1:19 pm

I just tried again and cannot get into vote ….it just gave me the same.

  • Newbie // November 15, 2009 at 1:23 pm

I have a comment in lockup.

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 1:57 pm

Sorry, I was working on something. I don’t know what happened there, Newbie. Did you try it again?

  • shyloh // November 15, 2009 at 2:45 pm

I respect NG because she does get the word out about missing children. She may be a bit DRAMA QUEEN for some. But she was there. She has been there done that. I honor her. I don’t agree with everything. But wow! To Comment on her and a lot of us watch her. What is that all about? I thought it was about missing children? Confused in Chicago.

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 2:49 pm

Shyloh – This is a reprint from a year ago. When I first saw NG, it was a bit of a shock, just like watching anyone else that yells on TV. That was the brief exchange here. No one was dissing your girl.

  • shyloh // November 15, 2009 at 2:55 pm

By the way Dave. When I click on the videos. It is cool how a popup screen shows up. I like that.

  • shyloh // November 15, 2009 at 2:56 pm

hahaha Dave. Dissing my girl. OK I will take your word for it. HUGS

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 2:58 pm

You mean my videos? Hah! I didn’t know that.

    Hey! Hugs back.

  • shyloh // November 15, 2009 at 3:14 pm

Yea I can click on any video and a little popup screen comes up and I can watch them here instead of going to YOUTUBE. COOL!!!!

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 3:18 pm

    Neato, shyloh.

  • Linda From New York // November 15, 2009 at 3:31 pm

Yes, those shows can be screaming matches. There are so many commercials, they all try to get in what they want to say.

But the NG show was the first where I heard “Tot Mom”, and thought it was so funny that you thought your friend was saying Top Mom.

Yeah, I don’t watch NG anymore. I won’t into WHY!! But I don’t knock anyone who does watch her.

P.S. Vicky-I’ve gotten rid of my husband with that too. LOL!

I wish the trial was not so far away! How much more of the evidence can the blogging world dissect? Sometimes I think some of the stuff gets “too” dissected.

I had this mentioned before, but no one anwered. What does anyone think of that gatorade bottled found, but the fact that amongst all of the gargbage found in Casey’s car, not one empty bottle of gatorade found? There were a bunch of empty soda bottles (Sprite..) but no gatorade? Do you think that is of any importance?

  • Diana // November 15, 2009 at 3:42 pm

    *Linda
From the trash discovered in Caseys car, it looks like she will drink any kind of soft drink. There was 4 or 5 different beverages that she drank, so I wouldn’t put much into the fact that there was no Gatorade bottles.

  • Linda From New York // November 15, 2009 at 3:57 pm

Thanks for some input Diana-For some reason not seeing empty gatorade bottles in the trash recovered and photographed from her car, stuck in my mind.

  • Olive // November 15, 2009 at 4:37 pm

The trash in the garbage bag in Casey’s trunk came from Tony’s apartment. He identified almost all of the contents, stating that he and his roomies drank certain sodas, etc.

The Gatorade bottle….it’s a heck of a coincidence if it is not related with Casey. But at this point, without fingerprint and DNA reports on it being released yet, it is a coincidence. JMO.

But again, with so much time gone by, why weren’t the DNA and fingerprint reports included in the release of the Gatorade bottle info?

  • Diana // November 15, 2009 at 4:44 pm

    Oh right *Olive
I forgot about Casey stealing Tonys trash to cover up the smell in her car. She is so obvious.

  • Weezie // November 15, 2009 at 4:49 pm

Linda From New York and Vicky; Shame on you. NG, was the first news queen to cover the Anthony case for hours at a time. It sounds like you just can’t tolerate her scoldings and rudeness. That is all AN ACT and it works. It makes people mad at her and others forgive her for her shortcomings. I for one, actuallly have grown fond of her in a way that I thought I would not. She is now making sure that on every show there is a 3 minute course on keeping safe. I like that. I also like when she challenges the Lawyers (who, by the way get paid to be her fall guys, and laugh at her rantings). Yes some may think her a bit odd or strange, just like DUMB AS A FOX. She plays up her children a bit too much for my liking and comes close to tears at other times when it comes to children. I think she has softened since giving birth to her “TWO TOTS”, because she was pretty brutal before. I thought I would send the remote crashing into the t.v. one night. But you will all be back as the case starts to heat up. She is loyal to her fan base who demand certain stories. She knows enough to cover the ones that seem to have large audiences. If you want screaming try Jane Valez Mitchell! Now that is intolerable! I need earplugs. JMO.
Shyloo don’t worry you and I can toot her praises. Now watch the bees come out of their hives on this one.

  • Linda From New York // November 15, 2009 at 4:50 pm

Yeah, I forgot that was Tony’s garbage too. Soooo much info in this case to retain!!

I would think if Casey’s fingerprints were on anything, including the gatorade bottle, duct tape, etc. it would have been released by now. No? Or could that info be released righ before trial as “the smoking gun”?

  • Linda From New York // November 15, 2009 at 5:04 pm

    Ouch Weezie!!

I did originally mention NG in regards to Dave’s reprinted article and the phrase “Tot Mom”.

I truly hope I do not revert going back to NG for the trial. I was thinking I would get that Tivo? thing for my Cable to record Court TV’s coverage of the trial. (coz I BETTER have a job by then). I think her name is Jamie Floyd: Best Defense and someone before her show. She said she was going to have that blond woman, from the Scott Peterson trial. I forget her name. I though she was really good reporting what was going on in court and legal issues.

Oh, how I wish for the days of Diane Diamond? Is that the name I am thinking of?

And yes, there is shrieking going on at JVM as well, but I would pick her over NG. I get what your saying, Weezie its AN ACT, but I just don’t like the acting. Why act. You come off as being insincere. If I want acting I’ll watch a TV show. LOL! And using her “braking news” is OLD breaking news. And I did always wonder why these people go on her show, as they are totally abused and G-D forbid they point out she is wrong about something. I wonder how much they get paid. AND I cannot stand that brunette woman, I think she an attorney, who ALWAYS has to rhyme something. She never fails!

I will admit I pass by while channel surfing sometimes but don’t watch regularly anymore.

  • Linda From New York // November 15, 2009 at 5:06 pm

And I sware, Weezie, if I do go back at the time of trial I will admit it!!!! LOL

  • New Puppy // November 15, 2009 at 5:11 pm

If anything has to be a smoking gun, I believe it will be fingerprints. Casey has had it her way but unless she wore gloves for the whole period in time of murdering Caylee it would have been near impossible to not have them somewhere lurking to bring it all home in the trial. Some fingerprints can of course be discounted because of mother and child natural contact.

  • Weezie // November 15, 2009 at 5:32 pm

Linda From New York. You made my day. I know who you mean, the poet/lawyer, with the whiny gruff masculine voice. She makes me laugh too. I actually get a real hoot out of the show. Diane Diamnod is the person you basically killed Michael Jackson. She is a snake in the grass, cause I loved MJ. Anyway, you are right about one thing it’s show business. When trial comes I will add Court TV to my already high cable bill, but till then I will rely on HLN. I used to have FOX and CNBC but alas not in the budget any more. The cast of characters pretty much stay in their seats for both shows, with a bit of musical chairs thrown in. I’m not for taking life so seriously that I can’t laugh at my stupid self for watching these shows. My husband thinks I’m into crime, mayhem and gore. Well maybe but he’s been glued to Nostradamis shows of late, because of the new movie 2012, they are airing all those documentaries. Do I want to know I will be dead in 2 years time? NOT. So he can call me names (lol), but they can’t hurt me, nor will anything over you know where will either. Happy surfing, as I play nursemaid to Nancy.

  • Olive // November 15, 2009 at 5:37 pm

About the fingerprints…..we know that no fingerprints were found on the duct tape belonging to George, Cindy or Lee. We do not know if Casey’s were excluded as well. Same with the Gatorade bottle, no fingerprint info as of yet. Fingerprints are indeed smoking guns, so if hers are not there, why not release that info?

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 6:03 pm

I think it’s been made clear that no fingerprints of any value were found on the duct tape. The reason why everyone keeps circulating George, Cindy and Lee’s being eliminated was because LE already had Casey’s after her arrest. They needed GC&L’s because LE knew there would be all sorts of fingerprints on a lot of the evidence and they wanted to eliminate everyone they could instead of looking everywhere else. The elimination wasn’t just for the duct tape, it was for other evidence, as well.

  • New Puppy // November 15, 2009 at 6:17 pm

How about the “elimination” of fingerprints. If there are no other fingerprints on anything at near or on the sacks, the sticker found near by, the bottle whatever. Wouldn’t that just leave Casey, even if her fingerprints are not good enough to be used for evidence? If there is no DNA belonging to anyone other than Caylee and Casey on all items pertaining to this crime we know she was witnessed to have last had Caylee.

  • Linda From New York // November 15, 2009 at 6:22 pm

Oh Weezie. I think our husbands are twins. Yes, my husband watches the Nostradamus stuff and all the Gohost story shoes., while I am watching all the crimes shows. He thinks I LOVE crime, mayhem and gore too! I am cracking up laughing! When he bugs me about all the forensic files, 48 hours, wicked attraction, snapped…, I tell him I am trying to figure out how to kill him and not leave any DNA! LOL. Ya know, after I get a HUGE life insurance policy on him. There is nothing else on TV to watch (and since I have been unemployed and can never fall asleep at night, those are the only shows on late night too!) Except of course Housewives, Kardashians and (sometimes) Bridezilla’s (I have to thrwo the train wreck shows in to shake things up!!)

  • Linda From New York // November 15, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Ok, there is no such thing as GOhost story SHOES!

  • Linda From New York // November 15, 2009 at 6:25 pm

Regarding the NO fingerprints on duct tape..I forgot..so much to remember!

What do ya think Dave, are there any fingerprints anywhere that will sprung on the defense, Perry Mason style?

  • Linda From New York // November 15, 2009 at 6:27 pm

Weezie, hopefully the Casey Anthony trial will be over and done with before 2012!! I want some resolution and justice for the peron who killed Caylee before I die!

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 6:42 pm

Part of the problem with DNA or fingerprints is that the defense can just say it’s normal for the toddler’s clothes, let’s say, to have trace elements from her mother. If any fingerprints exist anywhere on discarded material, like the bags, Casey’s defense won’t be able to argue that. I think enough evidence exists to convict her, even without fingerprints. There’s just too much stacked against her. Death in the trunk, a death hair in the trunk with mtDNA matching the family, and a whole lot more. Remember, the state charged her with premeditated first-degree murder almost 2 months before Caylee was found. There must be reasons, solid reasons. At that time, there was no duct tape, no bags, no Winnie the Pooh blanket.

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 6:44 pm

If fingerprints exist, and they might because I wouldn’t dare say they don’t, they could be delivered to the defense as late as a few weeks before the trial. Nothing can be sprung on them during, like… SURPRISE!!! Fingerprints.

  • Linda From New York // November 15, 2009 at 6:46 pm

They have a huge case against her with or without fingerprints. It is probably overkill just because the case is so high profile.

  • New Puppy // November 15, 2009 at 6:54 pm

Dave, 6:42, last paragraph. Hadn’t thought of that for
a long time. Then what are they waiting for???

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 6:58 pm

New Puppy, I still can’t figure out why your comments keep getting stuck. I’ve got to find an answer.

What are they waiting for? The defense, for one thing, and the longer the defense takes, the more it gives the state opportunities to continue finding more solid evidence against Casey.

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 7:03 pm

    60 Minutes

  • New Puppy // November 15, 2009 at 7:05 pm

Maybe it is because I roll in honey! he he!

  • Diana // November 15, 2009 at 7:38 pm

I always wonder what it was that made them seek the death penalty.
It seems like it was about the time they found the hair with the death band on it, but it’s been so long ago, and I’m getting old, so I forget.

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 7:59 pm

I think you may be right, New Puppy. I love honey, too.

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 8:01 pm

I think the hair was part of it, but there had to be much more because that, in itself, doesn’t prove premeditation. I think computer forensics played a role, more than we think.

  • snoopysleuth // November 15, 2009 at 8:08 pm

    7:59Pm thank you Davey

Have you ever tried orange blossom honey?

  • New Puppy // November 15, 2009 at 8:16 pm

I’m going to bite her butt! l0l :-)

  • New Puppy // November 15, 2009 at 8:20 pm

Ok, I’m not rolling in honey, I am stuck to fly paper!
Or is it knat paper in Florida?

  • snoopysleuth // November 15, 2009 at 8:27 pm

No I have never tried orange blossom, honey.

Don’t you have any comma sense?

  • New Puppy // November 15, 2009 at 8:28 pm

Snoopysleuth, You gotta “stick” around here! Dave, don’t
you think I am smart tonight? :-) Oh well, I try!

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 8:29 pm

Fly paper. Boy, I haven’t seen that in a long, long time. I imagine it’s still available. So, you’ve never heard of orange blossom honey?

  • Marinade Dave // November 15, 2009 at 8:31 pm

Good Morning Dave~~hey were we practicing commercials last nite or was that someone else?

  • Marinade Dave // November 16, 2009 at 10:39 am

    Yes, Renee, very interesting.

  • Marinade Dave // November 16, 2009 at 10:40 am

Yes, we were, Snoopy. I would like to go down to Suburban Drive today or tomorrow and shoot another video. This is the time of year that the PIs looked in the woods.

  • snoopysleuth // November 16, 2009 at 10:46 am

Dave~~that would be great. I would love to see another video. I hope you chat to us while you take the pics. It adds a more personal touch. Okie Dokie?

  • Sherry // November 16, 2009 at 10:54 am

It will be interesting to see what the area looks like this time of year-to give us an idea of what PI Casey saw and had to g through trying to search the area. Can he really say Caylee’s remains weren’t there? Okay, yes, because he was a bit off from the actual site.

    Thanks, Renee!

  • Annie // November 16, 2009 at 11:01 am

Yes, yes Dave. Here in Cleveland all the leaves are down. It’s cold today hi of 52F, cloudy and damp. Let’s see exactly what the site looks like. Vote for you everyday. Now that you explained I am even voting in both catagories. Let’s see the a real video.

  • Marinade Dave // November 16, 2009 at 11:08 am

Thank you for voting in the 2 categories, Annie. That is very nice and I sure do appreciate it. I shall do my best to get down there and shoot a video today. Or tomorrow.

  • Myrtle Beach // November 16, 2009 at 11:10 am

In the beginning, I thought this was a tragedy not unlike the Smith or Duckett cases. That is until 2 things were broadcast early on: (1) the mother’s outrageous lies and (2) the strange and affected tone her mother took toward her during a recorded jailhouse call “…if you hadn’t lied to them Sweetheart ”My heart cracked and I felt goosebumps. I’ve become fascinated on so many levels, from feeling emotionally bereft for the poor baby to the forensic reports, depos and the antics of the members of the Hooligan Circus.

To quote Alice in wonderland, this case just gets “curiouser and curiouser!”

  • Marinade Dave // November 16, 2009 at 11:15 am

Very fascinating indeed, Myrt, and we continue getting curiouser and curiouser with each passing… d… d… document dump.

  • Fostermom2 // November 16, 2009 at 11:27 am

Good morning all, Dave I remember this first hitting the news and my daughter saying oh Mom I bet that little girls Mom killed her. Now she was only 19 and knew that. I said lets wait and see what comes out. My daughter has followed this case to no end . We went to the memorial site said a prayer and left a little bear. We have been back twice to Florida to go to Caylees memorial. We will be back again! Caylee deserves anyone who can help bring this to light. Dave you help us by being the fact guy and we appreciate that. Dave I hope you continue to be that guy and not let anything get in your way!

  • Annie // November 16, 2009 at 11:35 am

Hi MD Bloggers, I was reading comments from Dave’s fist story about Top Mom. I believe Nancy Grace first had her story on this on a Thursday. Well, we all know the repeat shows on the weekend. I was up very sick on Sat. night. I have never seen her show before. I think I caught the repeat show at 10 est. I could not believe this woman, NG, was screaming. My son woke up sick for the repeat 2 am show. I was so sick, but I could not believe this show. But, you what, it hooked me. I can not watch her show for the the fact that the guest never get to anser their questions. But I am sure her, NG, gets great ratings.

  • Marinade Dave // November 16, 2009 at 11:41 am

Thank you for being so supportive, Fostermom. Your kindness and words encourage me to go on, and I will continue to do so. I want to say that there will be no memorial at that site, just like there wasn’t the last time I was down there. The property owner has NO TRESPASSING signs up and he means it. I’m not going to step in those woods, that’s for sure.

  • Marinade Dave // November 16, 2009 at 11:44 am

NG gets great ratings! She’s really on to something and no one can deny her her due. She’s incredibly popular, but so is Bill O’Reilly. I’m just not into those shows where people scream over each other and yes, NG does that.

  • Annie // November 16, 2009 at 11:56 am

Fostermom2, I wish I could get to the site. I really depend on Dave’s video’s of the areas. I have been reading (lurking, I guess that’s what it’s called) on other sites abouth the fighting, and the name calling just amazes me. I just want the facts. My brain is not capable of being that logical. There are a few sites I read, Dave’s and Blink’s for the facts. Once in a while I read the other sites to verify the fighting. But, Dave is the best, I know he know’s I am from Cleveland, OH and when he does the location videos, (I am not crazy) but it’s like he’s doing it for us outsiders.

  • Marinade Dave // November 16, 2009 at 12:00 pm

That is precisely why I shoot the videos, Annie.

  • Renee // November 16, 2009 at 12:13 pm

As of last night, my curiosity has taken me to Ukraine websites (flu other than H1N1), and subjects like chemtrailing, germ bombs, pneumonic plague and H1N1 flu conspirancey theories. It is definitely time for some ‘time out’ for me….lol.
    I shall return :)

  • Fostermom2 // November 16, 2009 at 12:17 pm

Annie you hit that on the nose because sometimes when discussing the case its hard to picture what they are talking about. Now a while back when we were there it was clear. Dave came back with the video that showed it had all grown back which made things much easier to understand.

  • Marinade Dave // November 16, 2009 at 12:18 pm

Just remember, Renee, no one’s ever caught a virus from their computer!

  • Fostermom2 // November 16, 2009 at 12:23 pm

Annie, another thing everyone here tries to help make things tolerable to the situation on everyone even if things get heated. Happens everywhere, but Dave or Snoop try to explain or apologize thehappenings which most blogs could care less. One common goal Caylee

Fostermom2: Everyone talks about this case and Dave. I went to some site (not very computer savvy). Found a link. Went to that link. It went to the Ukranine (spelling ?). The only way to verify was the time. This case, is worldwide, along with Dave.

If anyone wants to give me instructions on to find the page I was on… let me know.

  • Fostermom2 // November 16, 2009 at 1:05 pm

Annie Valhall hinky meter is cool also she is good with breaking down the evidence. She has a great mind .She along with JWG did a piece with Dave did you read that one. They were great! It was nice to see all the blog sites come together Snoop, Val, Jwg,Blink, I think Humble and kreuzer even have been here.

  • Fostermom2 // November 16, 2009 at 1:14 pm

Kruezer ~I apoligize for not capitol on that 1 .

  • Fostermom2 // November 16, 2009 at 1:19 pm

Annie Dave said the memorial is not allowed there than someone needs to make a new one somewhere if it has not already been done. Dave is there a new one. Let me know where if there is. Pic on my gravatar is my daughter putting a lil care bear on the site.

  • Olive // November 16, 2009 at 1:29 pm

Since I was up so early this morning, I was reading over at Valhall’s site…..Dave, you commented over on the Zenaida myspace way back when….did you investigate that myspace page yourself, before it was frozen?

Also, I went through George’s testimony with Morgan and Morgan, (I found the link in one of your older articles I was reading) there is no mention of what Caylee was wearing at all. So on to the next one…..ugh.

  • Linda From New York // November 16, 2009 at 1:53 pm

  • chicagojudy // November 16, 2009 at 3:39 pm

I had never heard of NG before the Caylee case. I watched her religiously when the show was about Caylee. But when she went off on other cases, I took a break. I really believe she’s crude, rude, bossy, and will make a “bombshell” out of a firecracker just for the sake of sensationalism. When she starts covering this case again, I will watch again. I just wish every show was the same thing over and over and over ad nauseum. I’d bet we could all recite the first 10 minutes of her show by heart when she was covering Caylee. Am I right???

  • Julie // November 16, 2009 at 3:40 pm

    Hi Sherry & kh.

  • Fostermom2 // November 16, 2009 at 3:54 pm

lol Chicagojudy you got that right!

  • Diana // November 16, 2009 at 3:54 pm

    You are right *Chicagojudy
I can recite NG opening lines off by heart. I never knew who was doing some of the talking. Sounds like a woman but also a man. One day she showed HIM, and I was shocked. I doubt very much I will read her latest book, unless it’s at the public library, and I’m in desperate need of something to read.

  • snoopysleuth // November 16, 2009 at 7:10 pm

Marinade~~did you do any filming today?

I thought this place would be buzzing today with the old Queen, Madame Sleuth keeping a low profile.

  • missbrandy36 // November 16, 2009 at 7:33 pm

Not sure if this is the right place to say anything, but I have just read about Cindy being investigated by DCF. I can’t say I don’t like the Anthony’s seeing that I don’t know them , I don’t agree with what they have done and doing but sheesh leave these people alone. I don’t say much on this topic I just like to read but this article I ended up shaking my head.

  • Sherry // November 16, 2009 at 7:43 pm

Snoopy, Dave is boring! We need you! LOL
    (j/k Dave!)

  • Sherry // November 16, 2009 at 7:49 pm

    Hi, missbrandy!
I think its because Cindy is on disability and if that disability is about her mental state then its a good idea to have her checked.

  • missbrandy36 // November 16, 2009 at 8:16 pm

    Sherry -true true

  • snoopysleuth // November 16, 2009 at 8:42 pm

When you are on DCF, are you allowed to make money by appearing on 48hrs and raking in $20 grand? I hardly think so.

I expect that DCF knows about the tattoo Cindy got on her belly.

  • snoopysleuth // November 16, 2009 at 8:48 pm

Income is income regardless if it came via monies rec’d for license fees for the pics used during 48 hrs. I wonder what name that big check was made out to. Did Cindy cover her tracks? If she didn’t, I suppose Brad could convince DCF that Cindy was mentally unstable somehow.

  • Marinade Dave // November 16, 2009 at 9:20 pm

Sorry. I’ve been working on a video. I should have it up tomorrow.

Snoopy-DCF is fior children and families. You mean Disability aid, right?

  • Fostermom2 // November 16, 2009 at 9:37 pm

Snoop DCF in the states is just Division of Children services has nothing to do with income. Cindys mental state and her meds is an issue they can check.Hope that helps.

  • Marinade Dave // November 16, 2009 at 9:37 pm

Already? Geeze. I know, you sneak over to that other place. That’s OK. Actually, I hope you are feeling alright. BP and all.

Fostermom~~I am still laughing… I just noticed that D and figured Cindy may be making money baby sitting on the side and got disability.

Were they concerned that she was not stable enough to babysit? What is the scoop on all this DCF investigating her?

Anyway glad to see it. Will not cause alarm again, however seeing it can change on a moments notice or right at the last count on the 20th. KEEP VOTING DAILY!

  • Marinade Dave // November 17, 2009 at 9:10 am

Well, New Puppy, I’m #2 today in the overall category. We’ll see. There’s still almost 4 days to go.

  • Frankie // November 17, 2009 at 9:30 am

    Greetings Dave,
I have enjoyed your blogs very much. I never really thought about how much work and dedication is required to produce and monitor a blog site. When I started to comment I had a little trouble keeping up with the comments so I can only imagine how hard it must be for you to not only read all the comments but to reply to everyone. You made me feel welcome and your comments on my thoughts made me feel included.
Dave, you are an intelligent, kind and a very excellent writer that deserves all the praise you get. I have been voting in both categories for you everyday. I hope you win first place but if you don’t you will always be number one to me. Keep up your good work and know that you are appreciated. I look forward to reading your blog everyday and when you miss a day I go back and read older ones. Hope you have a wonderful day.

  • Marinade Dave // November 17, 2009 at 9:58 am

Thank you, Frankie. What a lovely way for me to start out my morning. How kind. Right now, I am uploading a new video to YouTube that I shot yesterday. There’s 2.5 hours to go before it’s finished, and then it has to configure at that site. In the meantime, I am writing an intro to it here, where I will link the video. Tedious work.

I sure am glad you are voting for me. If I win, great, but if I don’t, that’s OK. At least I was in the running. It’s gentle words like yours that inspire me, anyway. They are much more important than winning a prize. You have a great day, too.

  • snoopysleuth // November 17, 2009 at 10:33 am

    Good morning Dave et al….

    My votes are in there..

  • Marinade Dave // November 17, 2009 at 10:46 am

Good morning, Snoopy. The video is still uploading and I don’t figure it will be high def for a couple of hours or so. In the meantime, I did start writing a short post to go along with it.

Thank you for voting for me. If I win, great! If I don’t, so what. After this video loads, I’m going to make another one for my “campaign” and see if I can collect votes from YouTube viewers. There is nothing shady or against the rules about it.

  • Nancy Drew // November 17, 2009 at 10:53 am

  • Ray // November 17, 2009 at 12:39 pm

    Aloha, Dave and Everyone

My two cents. Voted for you, Dave. I have to admit I’m a closet NG watcher. With my media background I watch everybody as muchas I can. I remember when NG first started, not that much screaming or acting out with lawyers, and confrontational accusations.

It has turned into a bit of a side show, but I agree with the bloggers who give her credit for being a person who looks out for missing and abused children.

Sometimes when I watch her program and or read about such children, I just can’t imagine there are people out there like those who harm children.

Anyway, everone have a great day, its only 7:39am here in Hawaii.

Mahalo for being such great bloggers!

  • Fostermom2 // November 17, 2009 at 12:41 pm

  • Marinade Dave // November 17, 2009 at 12:47 pm

Please do, Fostermom2! I am of the opinion that those people on another blog did the best as they could to knock me off the top by enrolling new ones. They turned people who had never heard of me against me.

  • Marinade Dave // November 17, 2009 at 12:59 pm

Good morning, Ray. Thank you for casting your vote my way. I think NG has done a lot of good and I don’t have anything against her. I don’t know if it’s a guy thing or not, but I don’t like abrasive people on TV. Same with those slanted ones on MSNBC and FOX that yell if anyone disagrees with their political agenda. I mean, look at Oprah, she gets her point across – her success proves that – and she seems to be very pleasant, not that I watch her, either, but whenever I’ve seen her, she’s nice.

Anyway, TOT MOM stuck. That will be in our vocabulary for a long time, sort of like “if the glove doesn’t fit.” Everyone will remember who the tot mom was.

I’ll send you the info I mentioned the other day and you can see if you can help me or not. I think it would be an interesting story.

    Thank you, my friend!

  • Fostermom2 // November 17, 2009 at 1:02 pm

  • Marinade Dave // November 17, 2009 at 1:11 pm

I don’t know off-hand, Fostermom2, and to be honest, I wouldn’t want to ask him. He was kind enough to write a whole post on my “election” and that went above and beyond. I think it may be OK to leave a comment on one of his posts and if he isn’t happy with it, he can delete it. He’s such an amicable guy, though, I don’t think he’ll scream at anyone.

I did Dave . My thought was if he is a manager of WP it also brings attention to WP . It is important for WP to get Caylee a stronger voice

  • Fostermom2 // November 17, 2009 at 1:16 pm

Dave have you seen Snoop is she ok? I was chasing her and lost her…lol

  • Marinade Dave // November 17, 2009 at 1:36 pm

He is just the manager of his blog, I believe. I never heard anything about him working for WP.

Snoop is fine, I’m sure. I don’t know where she is. Did you try her blog? Or, you know?

John Kreuzer said he wasn’t going to be around for awhile. His stepfather in California is have heart surgery. He has a post on it and you find at Word Press Caylee blogs page.

  • Fostermom2 // November 17, 2009 at 1:39 pm

I think Bill may have someone monitoring his blog. I posted a couple comments and, for the first time, was not bashed or ridiculed. I did go on a peace mission last evening and tried to baffle with a bit of wit and widsom.

I have to share this one with you…LOL

Cherrios~~I’ll bet the sale of cornflakes jumped since you started commenting here.

Now – What again are we voting for Dave for? Just Kidding. I drove home in freezing rain to cast my ballot. Good Luck Dave – WHether you win or not, you truly are the host of one of the best blogs on the world-wide web. And hands down in the Orlando area. From now on each time I take my grandchildren to Disney, Sea World, Universal or Daytona, I will also tell them that the famous Marinade Dave lives nearby. :)

I thought about that, Sherry, as soon as Jennifer’s comment came in. She’s legit, by the way. I’ll look into it, to make sure the date is still on.
