I had been planning on taking a trip down to Suburban Drive and the old Caylee Anthony memorial for a week or so, but I either didn’t feel up for it that day, I got busy doing something else, or it rained. This time of year it rains almost every day as fronts from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean converge on what is commonly referred to as Central Florida. It’s hot, it’s humid, and it’s dangerous as thunder roars it’s warnings throughout the region. Central Florida is often called The Lightning Capital of the World and for good reason. Many days it rains so hard you can’t see past your nose.
Yesterday, I decided it would be a good day for a ride. Gee, I need to get out more. By the time I left, it was already clouding up and rain was threatening to come at any moment, but people in Florida learn from the beginning not to let a little rain damper their plans. On the way, the rain did come, but one of the fascinating things about living here is that there can be a torrential downpour on one side of the street but not the other. Yes, that is true, and yes, I have seen it myself, several times. I figured that by the time I got there, it would be clear enough to take a look around. You learn to sense rain, believe it or not, and you get to know how to read clouds.
One of the funny things that plenty of people don’t know or understand about this state is the climate. Unless you’re a glutton for punishment, you do not stay outside for long periods of time. During the day, the sun beats down so hard on you, it can be deadly. I stopped sunning myself years ago and just from going in and out, I have a tan that comes from years and years of doing just that. In and out. Spending 5 minutes at a time, many times, day after day. It really adds up. At night, it can be brutally humid. The earlier rain is condensing and you can almost feel the vapor as it evaporates into the sky. There is no such thing as a cool summer night in Florida. Plain and simple, it’s hot. Even as the night temperature drops, the heat of the day brings steam off the ground. Bugs are out. Florida bugs. Unless you are in a populated area, like downtown Orlando, the critters rule the night. You itch. You scratch. What was that? Sometimes it’s imagined. Most of the time it’s not.
This is the last time I will mention the subject until I need to reference it again, but keep in mind that Casey had to stay in her car from the night of the 15th until 2:00pm the next afternoon. Cell phone pings proved she was there in the neighborhood, very close to the house from the evening hours of Sunday through 4:00pm on Monday and, absolutely, no one saw her; none of her neighbors in that close-knit area. If she killed her daughter at around 11:00pm as is the assumption, she went nowhere. With daytime activity at the school, she risked exposure if she parked her car near those woods. Summer recess does not mean no one is there, as one of yesterday’s photos will show. No one has come forward up to this point to say they saw her anywhere around the neighborhood. This also means that Casey had to have remained in her car at least 15 hours, in the vicinity of the house, from the time of the killing until her father left for work the next day and no one reported seeing her. In the stifling, hot and humid Florida summer. That’s if and only if Casey went back to the house at all. If she didn’t, that would change the time frame to over 17 hours in her car, until she reached Anthony Lazzaro’s apartment in Winter Park, where pings showed she went. If you firmly believe George lied about seeing Casey and Caylee leave on the 16th, which is certainly a possibilty, keep in mind that it could also be true that Casey sneaked back into the house later that night of the 15th or wee hours of the 16th, making no noise, and she remained hidden in her room until George left for work and, of course, he didn’t find that unusual at all seeing her car in the driveway, where she always parked straight in. No knock on either of the bedroom doors to make sure everyone was OK and no stirring. No peeking in to make sure everything was in order. No cell phone rings and no talking. It’s also interesting to note that the Anthonys access their house through the garage door and when asked by detectives, Lee stated that the front door was never used by anyone until July 15, when the place looked like an OCSO squad room.
I must state, in all fairness, that it did not rain on the 15th but Orlando International Airport registered 1.15 inches on the 16th. As I mentioned, it can rain in one spot and not in another and it can be a downpour. This is not to say anything about how much rain other areas, including the Anthony neighborhood, got that day or at what time of day. Here, it is not unusual to get 2 inches of rain in 15 minutes and moments later, the sun is shining brightly. Either way, the heat and humidity didn’t leave town whether it rained or not. The high was 92 on Sunday and 89 on Monday. Not unbearable, but not remotely comfortable enough to spend the day in a car. The nightly lows were 70-71 degrees and I assure you, that was around 4 or 5 in the morning. (1) Again, I cannot emphasize enough about the humidity and around these here parts, we call it a heat index, meaning that at 90 degrees, it feels like 100 or more.
One of the areas that’s been in the back of my mind for some time is the property just south of the wooded lot where Caylee’s body was found. A very credible commenter asked about it, too. On Google Maps, it looks like a developer had gone in to build homes, but stopped. You can see work had been done, but nothing else. Could Casey have driven there the night of the 15th and killed her daughter? That was an obvious possibility, so I decided to take a look and see if Casey could have been there and done that. It looks like the perfect spot to commit a murder and all of the cell phone pings would register right there by the house on Hopespring. My objective in this report is to look at the facts. I have no desire to cover-up the truth. You can decide what you want to believe. For sure, from that map, Casey would have had all the privacy in the world.
I didn’t have a clue about what I’d find. I relied on the Google map like every other blogger. South of the Suburban Drive intersection at Chickasaw Trail, there’s a street called Hastings Beach Blvd. That’s the only way to get to the place. I headed east and turned north on Florence Harbor Drive. That’s the street that dead ends into the woods. What I found were houses. Nothing but houses. Lots of them all around me, left and right. If you look at the arrow, it points in the direction of the photo I took of the spot (BELOW). The street ends at a cul-de-sac, one that stops you in your tracks with a chain link fence that says stay out, in so many words.
To verify my finding and to prove I have done no Photoshop manipulation, go to the Bing Web site and view a much newer version of the same location. I stopped and asked a man getting out of his car if these homes were here before the Caylee Anthony murder and he said, “Oh, yeah. I’ve been here a couple of years.” I asked him about the fence. How long has it been there? “As long as I’ve lived here.” To the best of your knowledge? “Yes.” He was getting groceries out of his trunk and I didn’t want to bother him with any more questions.
This should allay all theories that Casey killed her daughter here unless she slaughtered her in full view of people’s houses. No one saw or heard a thing, but in itself, it would have been a huge risk. From this point, I drove to Suburban Drive to take a look around. Bear in mind, this is not to dissuade people from theorizing any manner or time of death. This is to just show you, from a Floridian’s perspective, what it’s like here and for you to decide what is feasible and what isn’t. You can take this information and do whatever you want, but it is real and it is true. It may fit in your criteria for either of those two days in question.
♦
That was the business part of my trip. The rest was pleasure, although there is nothing pleasurable about the death of Caylee and where her body was dumped. As I left the Florence Harbor area, I got back onto Chickasaw and headed up to the intersection of Suburban, turning right. The next series of photos will speak for themselves unless I added a notation. The first one shows me heading to the location on foot. I parked my car about 100 feet away. The school is straight ahead, where Suburban dead ends.
The above photo is the actual site of the memorial. Take a look into those woods now and tell me what you see. What was once taken, the land has swallowed back up. Imagine if all of those stuffed animals remained there to get rained on. Weeds would have strangled poor Teddy or he would have drowned by now. Below is a different perspective.
The next photo is a view just to the right of the above one. It shows the back fence of the property on the corner of Hopespring Drive. The back yard runs along Suburban.
(ABOVE) It is here that I believe Casey accessed the woods, between the fence and the brush. This is pretty much what it would have looked like when the killer disposed of the body. Only, it was dark, for sure, but she knew her way around. You can see a small break in the woods beyond the brush. That was an entry point and not far from where Caylee’s remains, most of them, were discovered. Just to the left of this photo is the memorial site.
(ABOVE) About 30 feet to the left of the memorial is a look down into the woods. It’s interesting to note the area is still fairly free of growth. That tells me the team of dedicated and thorough examiners left no stones unturned and the ground has not yet recuperated. If you look closely, you’ll see a potted plant of some kind, most likely plastic, and a possible spot where bones were found. What you probably cannot see is that the ground is pretty saturated. At this time, it is not flooded, but in other photos the ground has a few inches of water. Remember, the side of the road drops down into the woods.
There were other pockets where tedious work had been done. Bones were scattered over a half acre when crews went in.
The next photo (BELOW) was taken just to the left of the above one. This or the one above is as close as I can get to showing you a very good idea of where Roy Kronk poked his head into the woods. It looks inviting, doesn’t it? That area was under water then, and parts of it are today.
What did he see back in those dog days of August?
Continuing west, I found the infamous FOR SALE sign that most of us saw plastered all over the Internet after news broke that the owner had put up an asking price of $89,900.
I cleared away some of the growth and I did it for a reason. It has nothing to do with trying to help the owner sell the property.
From that point, I headed back to my car, towards Hopespring. This next shot gives you another look at the back property fence and along the road. It is another angle showing how it almost backs right into the woods. If you look closely, you can see the roof of the house on the corner, the Gonzalez home. Next to him lives Zenaida Almodovar. Hmm… Zenaida? Gonzalez? Close to home? (See Creepy Cryptic Casey)
As I drove away, I was pointed in the direction of the school…
I asked a deputy manning the barricades during the recovery last December if the area down by the school was regulary patrolled. He told me it was. All schools are routinely checked throughout the night. The gated entrance is always kept locked, too.
Remember I mentioned there was a reason why I cleared out some of the growth around the sign? Believe it or not, there’s a method to my madness.
I took this back to my car and placed it into a sack.
In Memory of Caylee Marie Anthony
To everyone, friend or foe, I offer you this and I promise you my intention is honest and true. I have absolutely no other motive. If you e-mail me your address, I will send you a leaf as a token of remembrance. This will be something from the site of the original memorial. You can place it in a book or do what you please. I want nothing in return, no envelope, no stamp. This is purely a gesture of kindness in honor of little Caylee Marie Anthony. My adress is marinadedave@yahoo.com.
Afterward, I will destroy your address.

Amazing effort and attention to detail. And the leaves as a token of remembrance is a beautiful, heartfelt thought. I already emailed you with my address. Thank you.

Now this is nice coverage. Good work!
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 2:15 pm
Thank you, chrissybk. I will go to the post office and pick up some stamps. I would like to print out some cards, but it might be more than I can handle unless you don’t mind my erratic scissor cuts. I’m left jaded. I never learned how to use scissors when I was young. Anyway, I will send one to you and that is my word.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Thanks, Ina. I’m trying to turn over a new leaf.

Thank you, detwill39. That is very much appreciated.

Dave~~When you uncovered that For Sale sign, how did you know a snake wasn’t going to attack you? All the growth and underbrush gave me the willys. Are you sure that it didn’t rain on June 16th? For some reason, it sticks in my mind that it rained and that is why they more or less debunked that Caylee drowned in the pool.
I could be wrong …
snoopysleuth // July 9, 2009 at 2:42 pm
Dave~~check this out for that rain…

You know, detwil39, you’re right. I need to amend my post. I inadvertantly put the 14th and the 15th up instead of the 15th/ 16th. After you mentioned it, i realized you are right. Here’s where I got it from, which was taken at OIC, which is not far from the Anthony Home. One thing you must keep in mind though, is that 1.15 inches of rain can come in a matter of 15 minutes and it could have occurred any time during the day. Rarely do we get days that rain for hours. Also, it is not unusual to rain like cats and dogs at the airport and not be raining like that a mile away. I do not have rainfall statistics other than what this provides:

Funny, we added them at the same time.
laura // July 9, 2009 at 2:44 pm
Dave that is amazing how much it has already grown back! I would not go in those woods ever. I do not think Casey did either, I think she threw her!!!!!! Good work, I appreciate it.
laura // July 9, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Do you all share a brain? LOL
snoopysleuth // July 9, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Dave~~also at that same site, check out the lows for the evening temps…they were fairly comfortable…
This is spooky….thinking alike or just ‘double trouble’?
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 2:53 pm
The lows do not come when the sun goes down. Trust me. You are looking at a piece of paper. The low could have come at 4am in the morning.
Yeah, imagine that… spooky snoopy! I’m just glad you spotted it because I hate making mistakes like that. You know me, I try my best to pay attention to detail. Believe me though, it was not 71 degrees at 11pm even.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 2:55 pm
I tried to tell people how ridiculous it would have been to try to maintain a plausible memorial where it stood, but no one – I’m not talking about you two – wanted to believe me. That was another reason why I needed to get down there, to show it like it was a year ago.
Kari // July 9, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Interesting that you say the rain in Florida doesn’t usually last for hours. My only experience with a rainstorm there was like a monsoon!! We were camping near the beach and there was a lightning storm that seemed to last most of the night, just not moving. That would be odd for Indiana, but I supposed it might be normal for Florida.
Guess it was just odd, period.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 2:59 pm
It’s not to say we never get storms that last longer and occasionally we do get ones that last a good part of the day, but that’s a rare day, indeed. It’s got to do with the 2 fronts converging. Along the coast, weather patterns can be remarkably different because you’re really only getting one front.
NCalif // July 9, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Thank you, Dave, for this refreshing article.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 3:18 pm
Trust me, NCalif, it is my pleasure, indeed. Your kind words are what make my writing so rewarding.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 3:37 pm
I hate it when I miss part of a comment, detwill39. You know, I never gave a snake any thought. Silly me, but I would not have ventured into those woods. Come August, it will be worse in there. I will go back then and take more pictures to show.
LosAngeles // July 9, 2009 at 3:41 pm
Hi, everyone. I was also feeling thankful that I didn’t have to go through what George and Cindy have. But I also feel, IMO, that G and C have nothing on us, as I feel we all have terror in our lives at one time or another, and if someone hasn’t had any YET, believe me, you will, and then what you have been trying to cultivate in your life before that will come to the fore and help you through it, or come to the fore and hinder your coming through it and make it worse.
Oh, Laura, it did make me smile when you said that. And no one can judge you ’cause we’re all addicted too! Well, I can only speak for myself. I am sometimes because it’s like a coffee shop/cafe here where I can go and chat and visit, and it feels like it’s a real, actual coffee shop/cafe, thanks to Dave.
Good idea, Weezie. You’re the smart one.
Kari, I believe that LE in this Caylee case are no fools either. I think they have conducted themselves with skill and class.
LosAngeles // July 9, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Dave, that was an informative post. The Florida weather sounds awful.
Those were interesting facts you brought up about the case. That gives food for thought.
Dave, what about that satellite picture that JIF posted a while back of the Caylee remains area of a car being concealed in the bushes not too far from the road? And the only reason any of us could see the car in the picture was because JIF pointed it out to us, if you look very closely you can see it. Would that be a place someone could hang out? Didn’t they find food wrappers and silverware in Casey’s car? And wouldn’t it be about 20% cooler in the shade of the bushes?
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 4:12 pm
First off, LosAngeles, thank you for reading the post and finding it informative.
I must tell you, I have no idea of a satellite picture on JIH’s blog, but I would find it hard to believe that someone just happened to take a satellite picture on the 15th or 16th and it would only show up on a site that ran nothing more than parodies to laugh at. Who knows when that picture was taken. Who knows he or someone else didn’t Photoshop that image? I know I could do the same thing. Even if a car was somewhere within the vicinity, whose car was it? Is there proof it was Casey’s? Could anyone read a tag number? You see, there are way too many variables and if this was evidentiary material, why has it not been released in all of the document dumps? It looks to me like someone was trying to make a name for themselves.
As far as being cooler in the shade? Not really. Sure, some, but not enough to cool anyone down. The only thing I can tell people who live elsewhere is to not make any assumptions about Florida weather. It is hot. If there are questions – and I do not mean you, LA – about my integrity, I say fly your butts down here and find out for yourselves. Oh, make sure to bring your winter coats. It snows in August. At Disney.
snoopysleuth // July 9, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Dave~~I viewed that aerial shot that JIF put up and it didn’t look like a car to me. It looked more like the shade of the trees with a bit of light shining thru from the sun. John had no idea of the date it was taken. If anyone thought it looked like a white car, it was probably a figment of their imagination because they wanted to see one.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 4:27 pm
Thanks, detwill39. I would never believe it anyway. Besides, you certainly would have told me at the time if it was at all worthwhile. I’d still like to see it, just for kicks. Do you remember exactly or vaguely what area it was in?
LosAngeles // July 9, 2009 at 4:33 pm
Oh, I see, Dave, about the picture. Okay. It was something I had seen a long time ago on another blog. I’m not much of a photo expert or a Photoshop expert.
I think that choking type of heat and humidity is no joke at all. It makes me feel so yucky.
LOL, “bring winter coats” “it snows at Disney”
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 4:36 pm
I’ve lived here since 1981 and the only snow I’ve seen is at theme parks or at a town park where snow machines are brought in for the kiddies. Oh, and that’s because I saw it on the news.
LosAngeles // July 9, 2009 at 4:37 pm
Dave, since you’re talking about taking a gander just for kicks, my memory tells me that it wasn’t actually on jif’s blog site, but he had posted it on another WordPress blog. Whether he had also posted it on his site, I have no idea. But I had seen it on another blog.
LosAngeles // July 9, 2009 at 4:40 pm
Yes, Dave, I know. Give me a little credit. Not much, mind you, but a little.
I didn’t think it was because you and Stew went over there to play in the pretend snow flakes.
Although, that is a funny thought!
Newbie // July 9, 2009 at 4:40 pm
Wow, you talk about “bringing it home”. Caylee’s last minutes of life had to be horrid and for a mother to discard her blood and flesh child’s body in that snake invested pit……good grief.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 4:46 pm
Well, LosAngeles, as much as I keep up with this story, I have never seen, nor heard of a car found from a satellite image. Combined with what Detwill39 said about it, I won’t believe it. John does have several sites, by the way, and it could have been on any one of them. Or it could have been somewhere totally different. I just don’t buy into that stuff. By the way, I have a picture that proves Obama was not born in Hawaii. Would you like to see it?
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 4:50 pm
Actually, Stew moved down here in 2004, so he saw snow up until then. I haven’t seen it in probably 15-20 years or more. After I acclimated myself to this region, seeing snow was not really on my list of must see places.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 4:52 pm
I guess the only thing I can say about her death, Newbie, was that it came several days before she was tossed in with the snakes, not that that’s any sort of consolation. Her death was still horrid.
mikka // July 9, 2009 at 4:53 pm
dave thank you for your pictures, the plant growth is unbelievable there.when i see this site my stomache turns!
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 4:57 pm
It’s an honor and a privilege to share them with you, mikka. Unfortunately, before last year, this would have been nothing more than trees and weeds, with water thrown in. I’ll leave the critters out of it, but anyway, these same pictures would not have brought out an ounce of horror in anyone. That’s a shame this land will never be the same.
LosAngeles // July 9, 2009 at 4:58 pm
No. But I would like to see a picture of Hawaii.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 5:02 pm
Go to the Guest Writers page. Ray is a frequent commenter here, but she’s on vacation now. She’s got some fancy imagery and she lives in Hawaii. Rachelle is her name there. It’s the top article.

Wow Dave, like your Blog Rules ! Like them, but scares me !! HAHA (I hate LOL!) And like your site. I guess I was here before and forgot! Keep Blogging !!
LosAngeles // July 9, 2009 at 5:34 pm
Hi Linda From New York! New York seems like a cool place to live if you’re rich.
If I may interject, Dave never used to have any rules, but trust me, on a public blog, you have to have rules, otherwise it gets completely insane.
You’d be surprised what people will come on here and say and do. It’s crazazy!
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 5:42 pm
Thank you, Linda from New York. I had to put up those rules back when we were experiencing turbulence. I guess I could take them down now. I’m glad you like my site and I will try to keep blogging.
snoopysleuth // July 9, 2009 at 5:42 pm
Dave~~I just fleeced through all the archives for JIF and couldn’t find anything remotely close to that aerial shot. I expect he has deleted it from his web storage site. I remember John posting the link to that pic at Humbles but that was ages ago. I think most folks said they spotted a car to make him feel good. I don’t think John has his own private whirly bird to hover over Suburban and take close-ups on the exact date that Casey may have been there. Maybe he owns Google Earth for all I know.
Muesli // July 9, 2009 at 5:44 pm
Great pictures and post, Dave. Perhaps now people can see why others who were in the vicinity didn’t see anything. I know, living here in eastern Sarasota, that you don’t see any more than a few inches in most of these places. We don’t even go after golf balls more than a few inches–it’s a jungle out there. For anyone who doesn’t live here, Dave is right. Sometimes it seems that the heat accumulates and bears down on us in the evening hours. I can’t imagine anyone hanging out in a car for any length of time in the heat in June. Don’t think she could afford to keep the car running all night, as she never seemed to have enough money for gas. If she did, indeed, leave the house on the 15th, it is my guess that she went to Lee’s, as he lived so very close to the A’s. Do I have proof of that. No. Just what I would have done in those circumstances.
snoopysleuth // July 9, 2009 at 5:44 pm
Dave~~now that I am back as a ‘guest’, you better keep those blog rules up. Remember me?
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 5:46 pm
Oh, that’s funny, detwill39. Why not? I’ll bet the FBI supplied that photo. Or maybe it was the other way around.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 5:51 pm
Thank you, Muesli. Yes, you know all about the Florida weather and you live close to the Gulf, with more breezes, but it’s not much of a help here. I know that Lee had roommates and he mentioned one of them in his interview. Nothing, and I mean nothing, came up about her spending the night there. Besides, he lived 2 miles away and there’s another tower that would have pinged and it didn’t. Nope, she stayed close to the vest. Oh, and if she did keep her engine running, and that’s only assuming the AC worked, the darn thing would have overheated. You can’t leave a car running in Florida for 15+hours.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 5:52 pm
You were never a problem, detwill39. I remember that about you. But I will leave the rules up for now.
snoopysleuth // July 9, 2009 at 6:25 pm
Dave~~Read this and tell me if I am a problem…
I think Casey took a big bag of freezie pops with her to keep her cool on the evening of the 15th.
Tony Lazarro said that Casey gave me a freezie pop when he went to the house one day.
I am trying to make a banner in Fireworks…
The pics you took today are beautiful. I wouldn’t go within a half mile of Suburban. I am terrified of snakes.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 6:30 pm
I think you might be onto something with the frozen popsicles, but remember the key word… frozen, not thawed.
Are you trying to design a banner for the top of your blog?
Oh, and thank you for the compliment on the pictures. There are a lot more, but I didn’t want to put up any more than the story I was telling. There is something I’m sure you are aware of called saturation.
snoopysleuth // July 9, 2009 at 6:39 pm
Dave~~what blog? I served tea over there today and laced it with sedatives. If I put a freezie pop down my blouse, there would be saturation. Are you trying to teach me English?
Coreysmom // July 9, 2009 at 6:49 pm
What a sweet gesture, Dave.
It sure didn’t take long for some of that growth to come back. We have a good idea of what the spot looked like a year ago when Casey disposed of Caylee’s body. Yep, she probably did toss her in there. Even so, she most likely was wearing her boots if it was rain soaked there.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 6:51 pm
OK, I won’t ask, then. I like my tea straight, no cream, no sugar. Iced tea the same way, with lemon, preferably fresh.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 6:58 pm
Thank you, Coreysmom. It probably wasn’t soaked where she accessed the woods. There was growth there and it doesn’t slope at that location as much as it does further in and near the road.
Kari // July 9, 2009 at 7:27 pm
I quite agree that if there had been a car visible on Google Earth or something, we would have heard of it by now.
But I still have a question, about the Florida Sunshine Law. Doesn’t it say that only evidence that might be helpful for the defense must be turned over to the defense, and hence to public domain? Isn’t that why you confidently tell us that LE probably has more evidence than we know to back up their position?
So, IF there really had been a car spotted, would that be evidence that had to be released? I’m not saying I think there was, I don’t. Just clarifying that point, to be sure I understand correctly.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 7:45 pm
I know from first-hand experience about Google Earth because I did videotaping utilizing their service at a subscription rate, and those images are not updated daily. Trust me on that. Also, to verify what I just said, go back to the post and look at the 2 different maps, one from Google Earth and the other from Microsoft’s mapping service. That tells you how old the Google one is. The odds of Google snapping an image at just the right time are astronomical, to the point of absurdity.
As for Florida’s open laws, there are things that will remain behind closed doors that we will never see, such as Caylee’s autopsy photos, but that doesn’t mean the defense doesn’t see them. In most cases, the prosecution must share all information but notes and observations from law enforcement, in particular. All other information is handed over to the extent that nothing is thrown at the defense at trial. In other words, the state cannot hoodwink the defense. There are too many risks of a mistrial. The secret part is pretty much in the strategy. The defense can cull information from disclosed areas such as state’s witnesses, but it’s tough to depo every person on the list and it’s generally not done. Remember, not all info is privy to public disclosure, but I’ll guarantee the defense has access to it. It’s not conducive to fairness for the state to withhold evidence. The state is trying to find the defendant guilty of something, but in all fairness, the person has the right to a fair trial. If the government operated the judicial branch any other way, it would be a terrible injustice.

Dave* You may have to go back and dig up a few more plants for us. Exactly how many leaves do you have? Considering your blogs usually have over 100, and sometimes 200 responses………you will be making frequent trips to the post office in the coming days.:)
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 8:17 pm
Earmark? That’s the Orange County Tax Appraiser’s site. It’s a map of Orange County. What’s that all about?
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 8:20 pm
Yes, Diana, I know. I think it’s a good idea and I am a man of my word, so I will do it. Besides, I think there are a lot of people out there who feel very close to this case and this is a keepsake for years and years to come.

Go to Suburban where caylee was found. use max magnification. You will see it
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 8:36 pm
You need to tell me exactly where to look. I am viewing the aerial map from 2008. I need to know where it is and also the precise date that photo was taken. I’ll bet you there’s no proof it was taken in June even.

Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 9:20 pm
I did exactly that, earmark, on the 2008 aerial map, map labels turned off. Three things: One, I don’t see a car and two, there is no reference to the date of the image. If there is a car, which I didn’t see, it could be anyone’s car, and three, there is no way someone’s going to pull into an area near those wood, especially in June. Did you look at my pictures? There’s no parking lot. She would have had to drive up and over the curb.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 9:21 pm
There’s no white car in there and besides, who knows when that image was taken.
snoopysleuth // July 9, 2009 at 9:24 pm
earmark~~are you from Florida?
earmark // July 9, 2009 at 9:25 pm
Dave…your assesment is absolutely correct but John discredited this himself by cutting and pasting a car in this area next to the object and it obviously didn’t fit. Also all images are from a vertical perspective. I like John’s blogs as well as yours’. Thanks for the effort you made to give us the above information. We can all learn from each other’s perspective. I know I have.
Marinade Dave // July 9, 2009 at 9:30 pm
Well, well, well, thank you, earmark. I knew it could not possibly be true. I know he did parodies and plenty of image alterations. I wouldn’t believe it coming from one of his sites anyway, just like reading the National Lampoon.

Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 8:11 am
Hi, Lynn – I assure you that whatever this photo is about, it is absolutely not an image of Casey’s car. It is virtually impossible for several reasons. Do we know what date the picture was taken? Do we know it wasn’t an image that someone doctored? Do we know whose car it is? You see? There are way too many variables. Remember, people will believe what they want to believe.

BEES KNEES // July 10, 2009 at 10:30 am
Hi Snoopy! Hi laura! Hi Dave! A bee-yoo-ti-ful day here ~ blue, blue skies and a cool wind. I look forward to the leaf, Dave. It’s such an inspired and cool idea! I’ll let you know if it makes it.
And, as always, you’ve meticulously presented us with the cold, hard facts. Your great effort is not lost on me and more then once I’ve learned new information on your blog. I know we all appreciate hearing the facts even when our imaginations start filling in the blanks or an inner voice (maybe?) just not feeling “right” ~ hunches or, at the risk of sounding like Casey, our gut feelings. Personally, I go back and forth with the 15th – 16th. Both scenarios work, and one (yours) is more factual than the other. IMO I think she did leave the house after a fight with Cindy on the night of the 15th (not sure if she took Caylee or not) and then, probably due to the heat as you’ve pointed out Dave, I can see her returning to the house after the family went to sleep and spending the rest of the night there. I don’t live in Florida but I’ve been there and I know the heat-staggering temp. even after dark would have sent her scurrying for some climate controlled air!!! I doubt that Casey tolerates discomfort for very long. I find it completely believable that Cindy or George did not listen at her door, or open her door the next morning. What I’m still not sure about is why has George re-written his experience to include putting Caylee in the car after their breakfast? I can see both stories as being believable but why have they done this? I’m of the opinion that both George and Cindy are thoroughly coached by Captain Baez. Do you think so?
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 11:01 am
Good morning, Bees Knees! I am going to pick up envelopes and stamps today, so I should have them in the mail soon. If I need more leaves, I’ll just drive back down there, but you are at the top of the list.
I appreciate your encouraging words about what I have presented in the post. I try to stick with facts and write in a creative enough style that posts are easy to read and comprehend. As for the statements made by George under oath and subsequent interviews on TV, there’s one major difference. What he says on television is not under oath and I could possibly understand his desire to embellish the truth for a couple of reasons, one of which is purely innocent, although I doubt it holds any merit in the blogging community. As a writer, I sometimes flavor up my writing. It’s no different from what a critic writes about a restaurant or movie. In George’s case, it could have been nothing more than his attempt to tell the public what he used to do in the morning. I’m sure he sat her down in her high chair and ate breakfast on plenty of mornings. I’m sure he put her in her car seat lots of times, too. These are the fond memories he has for mornings with Caylee. In this particular instance, I can forgive a grandfather suffering over the loss of his grandchild because, in the end, it changes nothing. Casey still sits in jail and will face the death penalty. What counts is what George says at trial. Who knows, maybe his near breakdown altered his thought patterns? In any event, in spite of the fact that I didn’t pay all that much attention to his last interview on the CBS Morning Show, in matters of law, what he says on TV is nothing. What he said under oath does. Why the state has not pressed charges for lying under oath is something the state must deal with and since no charges are pending, I go with the state’s interpretation of events until I hear something different. As for Baez, no, I am positive he does not coach the Anthonys for one major reason. He represents Casey. Conway represents George and Cindy. Bear in mind that Dominic Casey still works for G&C, not Baez and not Casey. To prove there are differences and divisions, Dominic Casey hired an attorney to stop Baez from accessing his phone records. This is a contradiction if one is of the belief that they’re all in bed together, and trust me, Baez has more than enough on his plate. He cannot represent everyone in the family.
These are facts, not just my opinion. Well, not so much in the George thing, but in the rest. Any communication between G&C and Baez now must go through Conway and he is a straight shooter. No dirt or conspiracies have surfaced on him at all. And remember, there was a time, not long ago, when bloggers were positive Kronk was involved in the murder and cover-up. If not, and I heard this so, so many times, “If they didn’t do anything wrong, why do they need an attorney?” As much as I tried and tried to explain, many people didn’t get it. How come those same people aren’t asking the same question with regard to Amy Huizenga and Tony Lazzaro? You see, it’s easy to get wrapped up in a crime of this nature and it’s very complicated, especially with matters of law. Of course, it’s always positive to maintain an air of apprehension, but I definitely do my best to keep an open mind and look at facts more than anything else. I hope that makes sense.
I am going to try to write my next post on the legalities involved in the Amy Huizenga fraud trial and how it works in relation to a pending capital offense trial.
laura // July 10, 2009 at 12:01 pm

AHB // July 10, 2009 at 12:17 pm
Thanks for your artical. I am still so sad for Caylee. Another one that really has me upset is Haleigh Cummings. If there is anyway you could bring some attention to her case too, I would be grateful. I sent you my information for a leaf. Thanks for doing that.
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 12:22 pm
Thank you for writing, AHB. I wrote a couple of things about Haleigh back when she disappeared, but I promise you I will write an update in the very near future. I got your e-mail, so you will definitely be seeing a leaf in the mail. As for doing it, it is an honor to give out something in memory of Casey, a little token of remembrance, and I realize everyone can not come to Orlando. This is to bring a little of her to you. Not really her, but I think you know what I mean.

BEES KNEES // July 10, 2009 at 3:21 pm
Well, when you take it all into consideration I imagine you’re right. I guess Baez would not be coaching George and Cindy. Still, you are far more generous about them than I am. Anyway, this is about Caylee and Casey. The rest of them really don’t hold much interest for me.
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 4:05 pm
No, Bees Knees, I really don’t think so because Baez’s only interests lie in his client. Actually, clients because Casey is not the only one. He still handles other cases, like DUIs and petty crimes. Things of that nature. That’s how Casey got his name to begin with. His name came up when she was sitting in jail on the child neglect, lying to the cops charges. Before this, he was considered a pretty good lawyer for handling those cases. It’s like a hot dog vendor. He cooks a mean wiener on the side of the road, “You want mustard on that?” But he has no clue how to cook filet mignon with Bearnaise sauce.
You are right about the rest of them. They are not as important as people make them out to be.
LosAngeles // July 10, 2009 at 5:06 pm
Hi everyone! And welcome again!
I heard a story that Casey and Baez’s daughter used to be friends (some time before Caylee went missing, or maybe even before she was ever born), and that that’s how Casey knew of Baez.
I never investigated it as I have other things to do in life.
Anybody else ever hear that story?
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 5:36 pm
Nope, LosAngeles, and I don’t believe it. The jail version came out soon after day 1. A lot of rumors have started since then. As a matter of fact, Baez came from Miami and he didn’t get his license to practice law until 2005.
LosAngeles // July 10, 2009 at 6:45 pm
Oh, okay. I guess there should have been some substantiation about by now if it were at all true.
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 6:50 pm
Baez got into some trouble years ago with child support and that pushed back the date he was admitted into the bar, but that was down in Miami. Also, by owing back child support, that meant his ex-wife had custody. To my knowledge, he did not bring anyone with him from Miami, he lives down in Kissimmee, so even if he has a daughter, she would be younger and living outside of the area where Casey lived and partied. He and Casey’s paths would not have crossed anywhere but the Orange County Jail, I’m sure.
LosAngeles // July 10, 2009 at 7:02 pm
Must’ve been an idle rumor, or surely there would have been pictures of the two (Casey and Baez’ daughter) from years back all over the Internet by now.
Snowy // July 10, 2009 at 7:17 pm
Dave – an absolute excellent read. Thank you for taking the time. I for one did not know about the houses located in the back. And I agree she would not have been so foolish as to attempt to use it (road). You have given me many things to think about.
snoopysleuth // July 10, 2009 at 7:51 pm
LA~~I cannot find any association between Baez’ daughter and Casey as to them being friends. My search engines brought up zilch. I think someone figured that since Baez got married at 17 yrs old, probably because he got his girlfriend preg. Baez is now 40, born in 1959, so his daughter would be 23, the same age as Casey. Pure brilliance, but sadly, just another rumor. We can’t forget that Cay + Lee = Lee being Caylee’s father. With all the great imaginations floating around the blogs, some should consider writing fiction.
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 7:55 pm
It is easy to make a comment on a blog and suddenly, it picks up steam. That’s how lots of Anthony rumors began. There was no other merit to them.
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 7:58 pm
Thank you, Snowy. How kind of you. I hope all is well with you.

Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 8:02 pm

Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 8:27 pm
It wasn’t luck. I had to make a lot of phone calls. Trust me. It doesn’t put me in any better spot than Kathi Belich. It just puts me on the same level. It took some work, believe me.
But remember, that’s only from the LE end. That’s not the prosecution so I won’t have everything at my fingertips and I have to ask the right questions and submit them.

Laura, if Dave had not have written a post including his family in it one time, I would’ve been
like, “What?! What?! What happened, Dave? What happened to your mom?! Is she okay?”
But because he did, I knew that he was just puttin’ us on.
He is the dickens!
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 9:22 pm
My mother was sent to a male prison after her sex change operation. The only pictures my mother had of me were before I changed my sex to a male and pictures of bearded women were not allowed. It was before my breast reduction surgery.
LosAngeles // July 10, 2009 at 9:22 pm
That sounds nice, Dave. You probably could’ve been an investigative reporter if you had so chosen.
LosAngeles // July 10, 2009 at 9:23 pm
Dave, I’m going to hurt you.
laura // July 10, 2009 at 9:34 pm
Dave, are you making up a new life story?
LosAngeles // July 10, 2009 at 9:34 pm
Why, I oughta….
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 9:35 pm
No. I’ll stop.
Kari // July 10, 2009 at 9:38 pm
Dave, the former bearded lady??? Ok, Dave, I dare ya to put the top half of your face up, with a fake hawaiian-fringe beard on the bottom half!!
Good to see everyone having fun.
coreysmom // July 10, 2009 at 9:38 pm
LA, those smileys are awful! No motion to them. Yes, shame on WP! I think I will send them a note about this!
snoopysleuth // July 10, 2009 at 9:39 pm
Dave~~how many nitro did you just take? I think your brain is farting so don’t blame it on your mom.
Laura~~did you really really really think I had a pigeon? It is Yuri Melich’ s pigeon and he just loads it up with info and sends it to me. The darn customs stopped the pigeon at the border yesterday. Thank God, the pigeon had a good tail wind and made it here in 5 hrs.
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 9:41 pm
Either the pigeon had a tail wind or your tale is winded. Actually, my heart has not bothered me since this morning.
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 9:42 pm
Actually Kari, if you meld the bottom half of my banner pic with the gravatar, you have the complete me.
snoopysleuth // July 10, 2009 at 9:45 pm
Kari~~oh hi there. I read your comments in Open Space. I thought you knew that I am Dave’s estranged wife and Laura is the other woman. That reminds me….
Dave~~the kids are hungry and so is the dog. Please forward the support check or else. We have 2 slices of bologna and 1/2 loaf of cracked wheat bread left. The kids are getting tired of drinking water since the goat dried up in all this heat…or the goat could be in heat.
Why don’t you tell these people the real truth??
LosAngeles // July 10, 2009 at 9:48 pm
Lol, Coreysmom

but, yeah, really.
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 9:50 pm
My dearest detwill39 -
The bologna is out of date and the bread is not cracked wheat! That’s mold. I will bring you a loaf of fresh pumperknechel tomorrow, along with some summer sausage.
BEES KNEES // July 10, 2009 at 9:53 pm
Snoopy, do you ever read Blink On Crime’s blog? I’m not really clear on her background, possibly a legal analyst, but she seems to have some pretty tight sources. Anyway, if it means anything to you, she’s sticking by her report that the feds do have Casey’s prints, although it sounds like they might only be partials. I know this is how rumors get started but as far as I know, Blink is credible. I’ve chosen to believe her on this.
snoopysleuth // July 10, 2009 at 9:57 pm
Dave~~sure, promises. You never could supply anything better than sausages. At least the bread I buy from the piddly checks you send is cracked…not half cracked like you.
coreysmom // July 10, 2009 at 10:10 pm
pumper-knechel! LOL!
Well, I just searched WP and could not find anywhere a way to email them!
They did, however, nearly convince me to start a blog! Hmmmm…..
Bj // July 10, 2009 at 10:12 pm
Job well done Dave. Great work, thanks.
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 10:19 pm
I am cracked now. I’ve cracked my bed time.
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 10:20 pm
I’m glad you like my humor, Coreysmom.
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 10:22 pm
Thank you very much, Bj. It’s kind compliments like yours that help me feel that I’m doing a fairly decent job. I hope it gave you a better understanding of the area, too.
snoopysleuth // July 10, 2009 at 10:29 pm
Bees~~I did not read about the fingerprints at Blinks but I do believe they have partial prints of Caseys. LE released evidence that excluded George, Cindy and Lee as to their fingerprints being found. There was no mention of Caseys.
This tells me that they have her prints.
snoopysleuth // July 10, 2009 at 10:30 pm
Goodnight Mr Marinade….you silly fool. Hugs!
Marinade Dave // July 10, 2009 at 10:33 pm
Good night, detwill39.
AMBER OF PUEBLO // July 12, 2009 at 12:28 am
caylee i will never stop loving u ur my prinsess
snoopysleuth // July 12, 2009 at 12:46 am
This is off topic but something to ponder…
Someone in a comment somewhere mentioned that when Casey gave the gas cans back to George on June 24 (cans that had been in her trunk and possibly on top of the decomp stain), maybe George put them down in the backyard when doing yardwork and the transfer decomp accounts for one or more K9 hits. I hadn’t thought of that, but it’s certainly a possibility.
However, since the gas cans were in the smelly trunk and possibly sitting in decomp fluid, I don’t understand why we didn’t hear about one of those dogs alerting on George’s shed where the cans were stored. Those cans weren’t picked up by OCSO until August 1.
I will add that there was also duct tape on one of the gas cans that LE picked up. I would assume that they wanted to match the duct tape with the remnants of tape found with the remains.

Dave – A question for you. Do you think there will be a Perry Mason moment when the case comes to trial?
For those of us who are old enough to remember that show I believe, from our discussion re Gumby and Davey and Goliath, we know just exactly what that moment is and was.
I read somewhere that those moments only happen on tv shows and not in real life. But wouldn’t it be interesting if there was a deathbed confession, smoking gun or other evidence so incriminating no one could negate it.
I have to go and water my flowers.
Peace,
Barbie Girl
PS – Some day would you make a post about those old tv sitcoms? I had completely forgotten my lost youth on Sunday mornings, I believe, being up early, with the birds, and watching Davey and Goliath. Someone will have to refresh my memory because I think it was religious and maybe animated, and I think on Sunday, maybe around 6:30, 7 or 7:30 AM.
Also, one last question regarding trivia. I heard mention visavis the Michael Jackson case about the old show, Soul Train. I remember that show so well. When was it on, what years, what time of day, week?
Finally, we rented Benjie the other day for my 2-1/2 year old grandson. Ryan O-Neil was in it and Aunt Bea from Andy of Maybury. It blew me away. When was that movie made? Aunt Bea looked the same age as she did on Andy of Maybury and Ryan O’Neil looked the same age as when he made Love Story, around 1970.

Marinade Dave // July 14, 2009 at 4:41 pm
Gee, you’re making me feel old again with Aunt Bea and all.
I don’t think there will be a Perry Mason moment, although it will surely be on TV. The only thing I would consider would be if the prosecution flubs this one like the LA prosecution did with OJ, but I doubt it. These guys are really on the ball here. It’s professionalism all the way. Every T is crossed and every I is dotted.
Barbie Girl // July 18, 2009 at 8:18 am
Dave – I didn’t think there would be a Perry Mason moment, but although I never followed the OJ Simpson case very closely (the highlights were on the news every night so it was hard to avoid it) I remember the infamous “glove test” where OJ makes a big scene about trying on the gloves.
I can just see Casey now, trying on a pair of surgical gloves now….can’t you just picture it??
I wonder by the time this case comes to trial whether or not Cindy and George will still be together, will some things have been altered. Time has a funny way of changing things.
I know at the beginning of the Laci Peterson case Laci’s mother was very outspoken in her defense of Scott Peterson. People and facts surface, facts are disproven, new theories and theorists abound.
And they thought the Lindbergh case was the trial of the century…until the OJ Simpson case came along.
This is a new century and I wonder what case will come along next to invade our senses and make us linger on here digging for the truth?!?!?
I’m going out to play with my flowers. I would rather dig for beauty than truth on here

Marinade Dave // July 18, 2009 at 10:38 am
Barbie Girl – Having grown up in Flemington, NJ, home of the Lindbergh trial, I’ve always held a curious fascination with the case. To me, that will remain the Trial of the Century. This Anthony case is probably considered that, too, but the century is very young.
snoopysleuth // July 18, 2009 at 10:46 am
Good for you Dave sweetie! Some folks are allergic to flowers and would rather keep company with you. I am not allergic to the blooms but prefer to be in the company of a great writer who knows his stuff.
Marinade Dave // July 18, 2009 at 10:58 am
Good morning, detwill39! Thank you. I guess some people are just fed up. Oh well, we’re not. By the way, just who is this great writer you found? Don’t answer, I don’t want to know.
snoopysleuth // July 18, 2009 at 11:05 am
Dave~~you know who I mean. I sort of laugh when someone takes the time to go around to all your posts and leaves lengthy comments to tell us we should be out tending our garden. It is foggy and rain due for another day here. To each his own I guess.
Newbie // July 18, 2009 at 3:09 pm
I want you to know I have kept my hands away from the keys recently in order to behave myself.
While I have tired of the Casey Anthony matter, I have found it a great tool in discussions with my grand daughters. Since they have done flowers with me for years, my use of such has dwindled. You can only explain differences, care and needs for so long. The Casey A case has given me new ground in discussing life. No, they don’t read the blog or posts but I have let them know I am into “it” because ‘I can’t believe the decisions this young lady made’ and where it landed her and her unwanted child. It is a “poster” for all that can happen from bad choices or selfish choices. And yes, I include the parents down to believing an ex-wife that a man lies and weighing that in a decision of marriage. Temper, control, presenting perfection etc etc etc.
These are not lectures but conversations stemming from this case. So, I enjoy my flowers, use these posts for good and totally entertain myself with the writings of such a diverse group of women. I must also include Dave can give me that “turn of the light bulb” by his thinking.
I am rather tempted to try to copy recent statements to use as an example of judgment and back-stabs thru “zingers” written in a soft manner.
Marinade Dave // July 18, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Hi, Newbie – Yes, there have been lots of zingers tossed about, but I think we all learn and hopefully, grow from what we read. The Casey Anthony story is very sad and there’s no reason why anyone on the Internet should add to the sadness by acting in a vindictive manner towards other contributors. I guess if you could teach your granddaughters something out of this, it’s how not to treat others. Not just what Casey did, nor is it all about how George and Cindy are acting, but the way some of the bloggers and commenters treat the Anthonys and others as subhuman. Imagine, grown men and women calling people names and laughing like school children. I wonder what it would be like to wash out their mouths with soap.
Newbie // July 18, 2009 at 4:01 pm
I certainly would give you the privilege of the soap as you have tolerated a lot. lol
You know there was a shock when I told them I was reading and commenting on a blog and its posts. In their world, the trash on the computer is about like the violence in games and movies. Don’t think I didn’t get quizzed on my behavior !!!! I had to be honest but really didn’t care to fess up. I certainly have learned a lot about myself…to say the least.
I am teased quite a bit as my sons and daughters got to listen to Meatloaf’s album “Bat Out of Hell”, at least that is what I believe the album was called. Paradise by the Dashboard Light…..they all realize now why I “loved” the album !!! lol
Marinade Dave // July 18, 2009 at 4:12 pm
That’s funny. I loved that album and it reminds me fondly of a former flame. She was a cutie. Anyhow, I wonder how much of your grandchildren’s confusion is due to the fact that grandmothers aren’t supposed to be a part of the 21st century, not technologically, anyway. You’re supposed to know about TVs with picture tubes in them, not all this newfangled digital stuff. Just for the fun of it, you should download a hip hop song and play it in front of them. That’ll really confuse them, especially if you tell them you love it!
Oh, and I think we’ve all learned something about ourselves from this case and the interaction we have here. I’m enjoying it.
AHB // July 21, 2009 at 1:05 pm
I got my leaf in the mail yesterday. Thank you again so much. Sometimes I feel the only people that get how sad Caylee’s murder makes me are the people who come to this site. Thank you for keeping Caylee’s memory alive in a way that is respectful of her. I can’t explain why I got so attached to her but I did and I still am. It is my hope when the trial is over there can be a memorial like a park or something. Only when all the drama is gone can Caylee really rest in peace and in our hearts. I look forward to that day. Thanks agin.
PS – Don’t forget about Haleigh
Marinade Dave // July 21, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Thank you, AHB, for letting me know you got your leaf. 3 others have told me as well. Thank you, too, for keeping Caylee’s memory alive. I will contact the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, hopefully next week, to gather any new information on Haleigh.
