Judge Strickland to media: No jailhouse video release

June 17, 2009 · 198 Comments

Orange County Circuit Judge Stan Strickland ordered that the video taken at the Orange County Jail on December 11 be sealed today. This means the public will not see the video of Casey Anthony’s reaction the day she learned a child’s remains were found about a third of a mile from her home. “While the court is loathe to shield any public record, an argument can certainly be made that the contents of the video are highly inflammatory,” Judge Strickland wrote in his three-page order.

The judge said he watched the video and based his decision on a three-part test, which included whether it would impact a potential jury pool. “Given the nature and scope of the pretrial publicity, it is not unreasonable to assume that many persons in the potential jury pool might view this video and develop a ‘hardened’ attitude in reference to the defendant’s guilt,” Strickland wrote.

After hearing of the discovery of a child’s body near her home, Casey was moved from her cell to the jail’s medical facility where a TV was airing a report of the find. Her reaction was recorded while watching the news. At that point, no positive ID was confirmed regarding the remains, but everyone pretty much knew it was Caylee.

Casey Anthony’s defense team did not want the video released and successfully argued that it would taint a potential jury pool andalso it would violate her Constitutional rights. Media had filed legal papers to persuade the judge to release the video and I would venture a guess that an appeal is already in the works.

I realize that some of you may not agree with me, but I understand the decision. My opinion has nothing to do with Casey in particular. It should apply in every capital crime case. The only people who really need to see the video are members of the jury after the trial is underway. Clearly, it could affect a jury pool and the only real reason why the media wanted it was to titillate the public. The only people who demand it have already made up their minds about Casey’s guilt. What more would it prove to them? Is it to satisfy their lust to watch her squirm? The judge made the right decision.

Yes, well you said she did it too, remember. Glad you changed your mind then :)
    It is not proven yet.
See you on gb? I’ll race you!

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 1:35 pm

This decision has nothing to do with Casey’s guilt or innocence and it doesn’t change my mind one way or the other. All I said was that the video does not need to be released to the public.

It may be a while before I can get to GB today.

  • LosAngeles // June 17, 2009 at 1:39 pm

I believe it’s a wise decision because this way, it does not create a reason to appeal the verdict. And yet the jury can still view the video in court. And, of course, after it’s viewed in court by the jury, it will be released to the public.

  • LosAngeles // June 17, 2009 at 1:41 pm

I hope I didn’t just accidentally trip into a private chat room because I’m not understanding what “GB” is.

  • laura // June 17, 2009 at 1:43 pm

I completely agree with the judge’s decision. I can imagine how she reacted when she knew her daughter had been found, like a deer in the headlights.

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 1:46 pm

Yup, it would only satisfy the vultures in my opinion.

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 1:48 pm

Too bad, I am already in the pool :)

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 1:51 pm

No, LosAngeles, you didn’t end up in anything private. GB is short for Growing Bolder, a social site I am a member of. So is Ina. Take a look at it sometime. I publish stories over there sometimes.

    http://growingbolder.com

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 1:55 pm

And so do I. In English. And that is not easy. And of topic. :) I wonder what ever happened to that story about parrots remember? :) Did you ever finish that one?

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 1:57 pm

No, and it may be awhile before I have a chance to finish it. I still have to write about the road trip.

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 1:59 pm

Well it all has time enough :) Did anything bizar happen?

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 2:00 pm

Like your memories I wrote on open forum, I think you missed them :)

  • Boston // June 17, 2009 at 2:05 pm

The DA has more than enough videos that are tough to take -why add another one. We can all imagine how she would react and it wouldn;t matter if she was reacting as an innocent person or a guilty one. No one can read minds but interpreting how anyone would feel after such a Breaking News story just wasts precious time and effort on everyone’s part. She has to live with what she knows to be true and not her reaction after the fact.

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 2:06 pm

Hey David, I now just see you put the link to my English wp blog on your blogroll! Thank you very much, let me kiss you :) smooooooooooch
It was on the top of your skull, so that is ok I think?

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 2:08 pm

I haven’t had a chance to go over comments while I was away.

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 2:08 pm

I concur, Boston. Let the jury interpret it at trial.

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 2:08 pm

Boston, I can remember when months ago the news came out of that body being found, people on the blogs really thought it was evidence that Casey killed her daughter as she hyperventilated. That was the moment I was starting to doubt peoples minds here. For the first time. And it hasn’t improved.

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 2:17 pm

Oh, sorry for being very off tipic :) You know how to delete.
Well I am going to get a glass of wine. It is still Oerol and life is one big party :(

  • JMO // June 17, 2009 at 2:40 pm

I agree Dave. The only ones who need to see it will be the people selected for the jury once the trial starts. Once they view it, if it is released, then the circling vultures out there can pick it apart on youtube.

  • michellefrommadison // June 17, 2009 at 3:10 pm

Looks like another kick in the teeth for the prosecution. Is the prosecution-team really verified attorneys or just court-workers trying to assist? The prosecution’s case appears to be faltering every week, what a shame. :(

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 3:14 pm

Thank you, JMO. I think the judge took the vultures into consideration in his decision. The media would have a field day with it, not to mention YouTube. You’re right about that one.

  • michellefrommadison // June 17, 2009 at 3:18 pm

My goodness Dave, what will the talk-shows cover now that the video can’t be released? Real news perhaps? :)

  • Id'claire // June 17, 2009 at 3:36 pm

First of all, every detail of it has already been released, however, as Schaeffer said, a picture is worth a thousand words. Most people have not seen this kind of reaction to anything, perhaps outside of movies.

Secondly, not releasing it is titillating in itself, especially with what the Judge said after he saw it.

However, I don’t believe Casey has a right to these protective rights. She has scoffed at the detectives, her parents, and the public directly and through her lies. She has shown for the most part no emotion. For those of us who have taken her brazen disregard for human life and the sympathy of others very personally, it would be a partial sense of justice (while we wait for full justice to be served) to see her “suffer” on this tape for what she did.

All the same, I suppose we would remain a more civilized society overall (Ha!) if we weren’t made privy to the tape.

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 3:46 pm

Id’claire – I remember when I worked for the advertising department of a newspaper in New Jersey back in the late 70s, early 80s. One of our slogans, of course, was that a picture is worth a thousand words, since art and design factored more into each ad than the written word. The editorial department, on the other hand, said that one word is worth a thousand pictures and I always remembered that little phrase. For years, I was a designer and artist and it was only a few years ago that I transitioned myself from that profession to writing. Today, I see it loud and clear. The fact that the video will not be released says a lot and so does what we have all written about it. Who needs a video when we all see a visual from the description already told to us?

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 3:51 pm

I’m going to hold up on releasing your comments right now, Michelle. There’s a lot of animosities and hostilities fomenting at the moment and I really want to keep order here on this blog. Nothing personal and I hope you understand, but lots of people are quite upset and I want it to settle for awhile. Trust me, you’re not the only one and I’m sorry for that.

  • dancehappy // June 17, 2009 at 4:33 pm

I thought I read that Casey was listening to the news break on her radio in her cell, and she then asked to watch it on TV. No one at the jail forced her to go and watch it.

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 4:44 pm

Hi, dancehappy – I can’t say I know exactly what transpired that day, whether she asked to go to the infirmary or was coerced, like a guard might have asked her if she wanted to go knowing that her response would most likely be yes. Anyway, it doesn’t much matter how she ended up there. The judge decided it wasn’t necessary for the media to cash in on it and that’s exactly what they would have done. That and YouTube. I just never saw it as a must see thing in the public sense. The jury will be made up of her peers and they will ultimately judge her one day in court. There is no reason to jeopardize the trial by having something brought up later as something that tainted the jury.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 5:04 pm

Judge Strickland made the right decision in not releasing the video. He takes into consideration the pending trial and the harm that may be created in letting this video out to the public domain. Hyperventilation and anxiety may come under medical and this should remain private.

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 5:12 pm

David, if you put a good and sensible commenter like Michelle in the filter, I think there is something really not well in here. Just kick the hostill types out? :) I don’t want to be here if you boycott Michelle. Freedom of speech!

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 5:15 pm

David, something is not working here :) And you got mail.

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 5:20 pm

Ina, you have no idea what is transpiring elsewhere and I’m not about ready to explain it here. I want to maintain peace and that is my decision to make.

By the way, it is not something that is really open for discussion. I will say that I am only doing it for her benefit as well as ours. She is not banned or anything.

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 5:29 pm

    Good. I think. :)

  • michellefrommadison // June 17, 2009 at 5:32 pm

No problem at all Dave, I understand. Don’t remember exactly which comment that was, I truly have been trying to be more sensitive. There is only so much one can do to try to help those that ask or need some assistance.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 5:33 pm

I had to check to see if my comments were showing up thread a ways….yes they are there!!

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 5:36 pm

Ahum. Your motel room has a password :)

  • michellefrommadison // June 17, 2009 at 5:42 pm

Thanks Ina, but I trust Dave’s judgment on what to post or not of my comments submitted. He’s knows the more-regular commentors on his blogs and has a better ability than I do of how much or what types of facts they will tolerate at any given point. Right now, I am put into some kind of filter where Dave manually approves or denies each submitted comment or response. And, I’m very fine with that, education is not a thing some people accept very well. :)

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 5:44 pm

Dave~~your room service order is ready, lobster, white wine and strawberries. PLEASE, take the Do not disturb sign off the door so we can bring the food up. Please do not tip the waiter!!

  • PozeLenore // June 17, 2009 at 5:46 pm

    Detwill nailed it. I agree.

and Dave will sort it out ina, I hope you stay.

Im more disturbed by George’s new memory of that last moment in the garage than anything else new this week. But I will try to hold my tongue today.

Sometimes, words just slide on out.

I try to be respectful here I hope Dave because I feel in an ersatz way, i am a visitor here in your “home” and so far, you dont give me the idea that you are shorting us on freedom or truth.

so I am here. Dave be more patient with yourself, we are here to have fun, afterall. Be mindful of the stress it is causing you, Im happy to wait for what you will write.

Thanks so much for doing what you did in Florida to remember this child, that was important.

It feels like it all got a little lighter of spirit.

  • Ray // June 17, 2009 at 5:49 pm

Aloha, Dave and the Virtual Community

I guess I have to put my two cents in here. I agree with you and the judge’s decision.

Thanks for your thoughtful and well reasoned position.

  • PozeLenore // June 17, 2009 at 5:51 pm

I kinda see Dave in a hut on the beach with the breeze blowing through the thin curtain on the makeshift doorway .. pounding on his laptop

but thats just MY imaginary dave .. :)

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 5:55 pm

PozeLenore~~George’s comments about the breakfast and putting Caylee in the car really caught my eye. There was no mention of this in any of the interview with LE and FBI. I am wondering if this is ‘information overload.’ It is much easier to remember truths than fabrications. JMO

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 5:58 pm

PozeLenore~~I am glad you said the breeze was blowing thru the ‘curtain’ instead of…..oh never mind…LOL

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 6:04 pm

    David? Are you dead?

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 6:11 pm

Michelle – there are some things festering elsewhere. You may be aware of them, but I am not going to mention anything about them here. I truly believe you have been more sensitive and trust me, it is extremely appreciated. It is not my intent to bar you or anything like that. I pride myself in letting everyone speak their mind and I believe you know that to be true. There are several factors at play here and I will try to make my point clear. One thing is certain, there are those who may come from other blogs to attack you here. If that were to happen, I would defend you because no one has a right to go after anyone on my blog, but at the same time, I don’t want any of that to happen at all and I want to protect all who comment on this blog. Some people have become targets and this place is not a shooting gallery and I don’t want you to be a target to anyone at all. As much as I appreciate your good nature these days, there are still areas that need to be addressed. Clearly, I am open to all opinions and one’s that add to the discussion are greeted warmly. I will be the first to admit that I would lose my welcome mat elsewhere if I chose to be redundant day after day. In this last comment you state that there is only so much one can do to try to help those that ask or need some assistance, but whenever anyone approaches you for that assistance, you offer no options of substance, such as who any of these lawyers, psychologists and assorted other professionals who always remain nameless are. Believe me, I’ve looked for them and what you must notice around here is that we help each other. To do so adds to a special relationship we have developed and it helps us to resolve issues we feel are crucial to this and other cases. No one likes to be put down for a perceived lack of education. Quite obviously, this tit for tat approach is marginally responsible for the troubles going on elsewhere at this time. Here, I like to hear diverse approaches to whatever we are focusing on at the moment and one of the key things of utmost importance is the inherent trust we have developed. This should be a place where we can all communicate and especially, learn from one another. This is not a place to denounce someone for not being willing to learn when the person making that claim is not willing to teach. At the same time, it is about the warmth we have developed as a group. You know you can sense it here. All I’ve ever asked is that you be sensitive to other’s strengths, weaknesses and individual personalities. I feel that I have a fairly good grasp of who these people are and I strive to accommodate everyone, including you. Right now, it might be best for you to take a couple of days off to reflect on this, but mostly, it is to keep the troublemakers out until this latest war settles down and your name and that of others is not tossed around so much because you are not a rag doll. You are a human being.

I hope you understand what I have said. Believe me, I’ve mentioned before that I like you and you are welcome here. I just want peace and words that help us find answers. Everyone here has a voice and most of them are very good ideas I hear. What better way to educate us than to learn it from ourselves because none of us have the time or the fortitude to go back to college on account of this case. We are here as a team to analyze each facet, just like the prosecution and defense. We don’t need to be told we are not up to snuff because this is as good as it gets.

  • Boston // June 17, 2009 at 6:11 pm

Ina-There was sufficient evidence to charge Casey with neglect of a child and lying to LE within 48 hours of her arrest. The car she was driving had a decomposing body in it so it is fair to say that finding the body was helpful to those who thought she was more than likely a person of interest if not the murderer.

I doubt if many people following this case and reading the discovery documents needed to have the body in order to make up their mind one way or the other.

Evaluating how others think about something is always more credible when the evaluator knows what they are talking about. I think if you know the facts you are in better command of evaluating potential or rational outcomes.

  • laura // June 17, 2009 at 6:19 pm

That was very nice Dave now hopefully she will take a day or two off and come back and be more vocal about how she really feels without the education stuff. I think she really could be nice and bring something to the table.

  • Boston // June 17, 2009 at 6:28 pm

    I doubt it.

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 6:29 pm

Pozelenore – you are welcome to state your peace. I have issues with what George said, too, but I don’t think it’s strong enough to warrant a whole post about. If anyone wants to discuss it, that’s fine with me. On another matter, you don’t have to feel like a mere visitor. The welcome mat is out. The only thing I don’t like is name calling, which you already know. Well, that and personal insults aimed at fellow commenters. I know I was branded as an Anthony lover by many, but that was never it at all. When I was quick to point out that name calling went out after third grade, it didn’t stop some of them from calling me names. They never got my message and the most important one centers on Casey, not George this and Cindy that. There’s no love lost between me and them, and when the dust settles, in the end the whole case is a matter of who killed Caylee and why. Personally, I don’t think George and Cindy have a clue about it and I’d rather focus on the real issues. If that includes why George just said what he said, then that is perfectly fine. Where does he get these notions? At the same time, I’d like to include facets of his mental and emotional dichotomies and not just discuss this as nothing more than something else to make fun of.

Anyway, please always make yourself at home. Yes, we are here to have fun and talk about serious things at the same time. I am very happy you took time to read my latest memorial post and look at the pictures. I am very, very glad I went. Living here afforded me the opportunity and I just had to do it. Besides, i wanted to and I learned a lot from being there and feeling it. Thank you.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 6:51 pm

Boston~~well said as per usual. I don’t what we would do without your wisdom. When I first came in here, I thought for a minute I was in the wrong blog.

Well I am off to sleuth for a nice pic of Judge Strickland and alot of other things to amuse myself.

    Nasty little man. Hmm.

  • Ina // June 17, 2009 at 6:55 pm

David, take care. I see you elsewhere :)

  • Boston // June 17, 2009 at 7:10 pm

laura-I recall one time in late July when Cindy admonished the media for asking her questions. She responded to them by saying something to the effect of, “Get off your asses and look for my granddaughter”.

Maybe if it were possible for Cindy to ask Casey to “get off your ass and look for Caylee” maybe she wouldn’t have had to break down in jail in front of everyone who could and would”kiss and tell”.

BTW is asking for medication usually the first thing a parent would request when they hear that a child is found? Wouldn’t you think most parents would want to be in control of the situation and make damn sure that it was not your child?

If I was innocent I would run around that jail like a maniac and demand that the police find the person who killed my child. I would definetly have to be medicated after that display of outrage and palpable grief.

When I think about her “nothingness” I am almost moved to tears but I am unmoved by her theatrics.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 7:16 pm

Boston~~I reread my previous comment so best explain my ‘thinking I was in the wrong blog’ was because of so many one-liners and not intended for you.

I love your comments because they have lots of meat in them. It makes me think of that little gray haired lady who use to say, “wheres the beef.” And speaking of beefs, I think there may be a truce pending over yonder.

  • Boston // June 17, 2009 at 7:22 pm

Det-I think Strickland is brilliant. When guys are as smart as he is I always think they’re so good looking. Isn’t that funny? BTW I exercised a good deal of restraint and trust me Det I learned from you. No one I have ever blogged with could take a nasty comment and come back with something either really hilarious or just slay them with the facts.

  • Boston // June 17, 2009 at 7:24 pm

Jeopardy. The Canadian will win again tonight. Francois from Quebec. He’s really smart but too young for me. He’s still good looking nonetheless.

  • laura // June 17, 2009 at 7:25 pm

Boston I will speak from my experience it took all of 15 minutes for the doctor to sedate me when they gave me the news that both of my girls died. Now keep in mind I was also injured and in the hospital, I am positive Casey knew exactly who they found and it was a oh chit moment (as detwill would say). She needed medicine for being busted so to speak it was not because her child was just found because Caylee was not identified at that very moment.

  • Boston // June 17, 2009 at 7:27 pm

A truce pending over yonder. It would have been a good fight if there was something to fight about. I wrote a thesis on that one. Geez, if only I could get a handle on a one liner that worked!!

Not in this lifetime. (I’ve got brown hair and blackish eyes-ever hear of the Black Irish?)

  • laura // June 17, 2009 at 7:40 pm

I think it is inflammatory because she jumped the gun on her reaction, it should have come when Caylee’s bones was identified. The only person who knew 100% that the bones was Caylee’s was whoever put her their.

  • Boston // June 17, 2009 at 9:13 pm

Dave-She was so unaffected and adorable. My oh my did she ever come from behind. I am so pleased she won. Francois was terrific-so funny. Can’t you see him going to the principal and saying my “Love computer crashed”! I did pretty good tonight I got all the ‘09 right because I caught on early once it went from 1909-1809, etc. I just guessed. The pros were easy but I missed the foot one.

  • Boston // June 17, 2009 at 9:17 pm

laura-I think Strickland did more harm than good in terms of alerting the jury pool about the inflammatory nature of the tape. What the heck could he do in light of the video he just viewed. I say this is a real Catch 22 or could it be considered similar to being between a rock and a hard place. I never quite know which is which.

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 9:24 pm

I guess I am what you might call a Jeopardyholic because I try to stop what I am doing on weekdays to watch it at 7 pm. Usually, I am quite good, especially with the final answer, but today I would have never guessed Disney. I was thinking more along the line of what Edison did by inventing the motion picture and now his company is more of a utility. I must admit that Cutey Pie took me by surprise, with the way she came out of nowhere and took the lead. Oh well, too bad for Francois but he played a great game and he should be proud of himself.

  • Boston // June 17, 2009 at 9:31 pm

I thought Universal at first and then Columbia Pictures and then my sister said, MGM. Never would have thought of Disney.

Det- I listened to the link (I am a good student of yours-not quite at the head of the class but I always do my homework) and I couldn;t agree more with Schriefer (sp?).

Now teach is it a Catch 22 or a rock &a hard place?

  • laura // June 17, 2009 at 9:33 pm

A rock and a hard place. I think he had to give reasons for not releasing it. Some could say that it is because it was a mother crying because they found her daughter. Even though no one knew for sure.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 9:35 pm

Blink on Crime has an audio of Cindy going aboard Tim Miller..it is part way down the page.

laura-You suffered trauma and I would think that having to take in the deaths of Ella and Bella would have required sedation. No one would have wanted you in pain plus emotional anguish. My dear friend you have done so well. You are an inspiration to many. Listen while I sing, “You Have A Friend In Me”. Remember I don’t have any head tone left.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 9:40 pm

Boston~~I can hear you singing all the way up here in N.S.

Darn, I tried to put in an audio of Cindy going aboard Tim Miller…just google Blink On Crime if you want to hear it.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 9:41 pm

It’s showing up now. The first part is a little hard to understand.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 9:47 pm

Judge Strickland had to give a reason for not his decision on not releasing the video. He couldn’t just say that Casey’s hair was not combed. I think Bill Sheaffer made some really good points. Since the judge said the video was inflammatory, now I want to see it. The Orlando Sentinel can go to court and try to get the video released.

Judge Strickland is going to rule on the autopsy report this week. My guess is that we will get to see it.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 9:50 pm

Dave~~off topic stuff ….How come you got rid of the Motel? Once was too many huh? I will have you know, I got my visa all ready and green card prepared for my job as a cleaning lady at said Motel. They hired me right away and I have the damn pass key but no stupid motel to go with it. You are in deep chit!

Detwill you are hysterical. I am not great and I was very ugly when my children died. I was mad at the world, not very graceful. I felt better by donating organs and by getting rid of the insurance money. A couple days last week I was mad at the world and mad at peoples lies only because of lies/secrets not told to the court where my drunk driver was sentences and because of those lies there is a new trial. Believe me I am nothing special I just try very hard to know god has a plan for me and one day I will know what it was but today I just breathe and hope I am doing the right thing.

  • laura // June 17, 2009 at 10:07 pm

Boston I love when you actually type their names I don’t write them very often anymore and when I see their name with mine, it is like they are still here, still my babies in the other room. Makes me feel better. Thank you……

  • Marinade Dave // June 17, 2009 at 10:11 pm

I don’t really think the extra page was necessary. If anyone wants to communicate with me in private, e-mail will do the trick. Besides, if I give people the password, there would be nothing private about it.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 10:15 pm

laura~~you never get over the loss of a child. Time helps to make the coping a bit easier. I think you are a very good person and I see that in your comments. I also noticed the change last week and had a feeling something or someone was making you feel down. I can understand why this Anthony case gets you upset. Casey just up and throws away a gift from God and you are grieving your two precious gifts. Life just isn’t fair and we will never, in a million years, figure out why these things happen. Here is a BIG bear hug for you.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 10:17 pm

Dave~~different password and different lady (except me, of course) every night. Bloggers Paridise or 2 nites in Nova Scotia.

  • laura // June 17, 2009 at 10:38 pm

Thank you so much Detwill, I am hugging back. It is hard for any child to be harmed or murdered. I miss my girls everyday but it does get easier or maybe just accept the fact that no matter how bad I feel they aren’t coming back. You all help me keep my mind off of it some and that is why I am here off and on most days. Did Dave break up with all of us so he shut down the hotel?

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 10:51 pm

laura~~Dave got cold feet and shut down the Motel. Can you imagine a dozen women in a motel room with Dave? Well if he owned the Motel, he could have a different woman in 12 separate rooms. Can’t you see him sprinting from room 1, 2 and 3, hobbling to 4,5,6, and limping to 7,8,9, and travelling in a w/chair to number 10… the girls in 11 and 12 would have to have sex with a corpse.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 10:53 pm

laura~~did you know that a man cannot rape a woman?

A woman can run faster with her dress up than a man with his pants down….just like Dave going from room to room in the motel. LOL

  • laura // June 17, 2009 at 10:59 pm

LOL. Poor Dave could not handle the 12 of us, I don’t see him making it to room#2. I would not want to be 11 or 12 dead man, yuck!!!! I will have to remember that about a rape also, you are a piece of work never a dull moment with you.

  • Detwill39 // June 17, 2009 at 11:09 pm

  • Boston // June 17, 2009 at 11:20 pm

Det and laura-I am between tears and a lot of laughter. I really am. It really did my heart good. Did nothing for my singing voice but who cares at this stage of the game.

It is so good to know you both. Don’t you ever worry laura we will always be here for you. I too noticed that you were a little down last week. Any time you need extra prayers or need someone to carry your heartache always remember that I can do it. Det can too. You hang in there girlfriend and remember that in the midst of your worst day there is always Det to cheer you up. Poor Dave-I just can’t help but laugh at the Motel scene. I am a very visual person.

Now that my sinuses are cleared I think I will whistle a happy tune-the one that my cats come running to. I love to hear them sing-I reward them with a little Meow Mix.

  • KB777 // June 18, 2009 at 12:01 am

    Hi Dave & Friends!

In response to Dancehappy’s comment above, I beleve she was taken to medical as standard proceedure when something of this magnatude happens to an inmate.

I listened to the audio interviews from jail staff and they stated, as the news began unfolding, they took Casey to Medical and searched her cell for anything she could use to harm herself. They wanted to interview her to make sure she wasn’t planning on harming herself and thus placing her on “suicide watch”.

From the interviews, it didn’t sound like she had a choice in the matter.

  • KB777 // June 18, 2009 at 12:22 am

    Hi Laura,

I have been reading this blog since the beginning of this case and your tragedy has touched my heart!

I am so sorry for the loss of your girls, Ella and Bella! What beautiful names and I am sure they were beautiful girls!

My best friend since 5th grade lost her 21 year old daughter, Joslyn, in a car accident as she was returning to school in Feb. of 08. She was like a daughter to me and I miss her terribly. One thing her Mom and I talk about often is the fear of her being forgotten. She had her name tatoo’d on her ankle and if you knew her a tatoo is the last thing you would ever think she would have. She loves looking at it as she feels it is a perminant reminder of her daughter. She loves when anyone asks about it, as it gives her an opportunity to talk about Joslyn, keeping her memory alive!

May I be so bold to ask you to share a special memory of Ella and Bella? I would love to hear a little story about each of them. If this is to difficult, I totally understand.

My thoughts and prayers are with you!

P.S. Sorry this is off topic, Dave!

    Kimberly

  • frosty // June 18, 2009 at 3:20 am

Laura, I am also a big fan of you and your spirit and strength. I am always amazed how upbeat and kind you are in spite of what you have been through. Everyone should be like you!!

I have been so upset since I just read your post a couple days ago on Bob C. blog that you have lost your job and might lose your house. I have thought to myself, how much more can this girl take!

I want you to know you are in my prayers and if I can help you in any way I would. I know you have lots of friends on WordPress that think the world of you too!

By the way, I love the names Ella and Bella, they are kind of old-fashioned and feminine. I have not heard your older girls names, but they all are lucky to have you as a Mom.

God Bless and thank you for all the good things you bring to the sites you post on!

  • Marinade Dave // June 18, 2009 at 8:22 am

KB777 (from 2009/06/18 at 12:01am) – Thank you for clarifying that because I have heard conflicting reports about what actually transpired that morning.

  • laura // June 18, 2009 at 10:01 am

Boston how is your feet and ankles today? I hope you are okay, that sounds painful. KB77 my favorite thing about the twins is they are identical no one could tell them apart not even my oldest two daughters, so if one of them did something bad they got punished together (they wouldn’t tell on each other) I never dressed them alike because it would only confuse people more. Bella was the trouble maker and Ella was sneaky so I never really knew who caused the problem because when I thought it to be Bella then I would realize Ella could have done it. Frosty, I replaced my previous job and we are all doing fine. I work in a Financial setting and the economy hit us hard. I have to travel with my new job the only thing I do not like.

  • laura // June 18, 2009 at 10:03 am

Do you think Judge Strickland will make a decision on the autopsy reports today or tomorrow? I have a feeling we may get to see some unexpected evidence.

  • Marinade Dave // June 18, 2009 at 11:45 am

Good morning Miss Canadian Mist. The hearing is scheduled for tomorrow, so news will come out today. I would expect a ruling unless the media comes unprepared, although they had time to work on it.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 11:51 am

Dave~~I have a question and maybe you may know the answer. If a commenter makes threats to any individual, can law enforcement step in to investigate said commenter? Let’s say the comments are repetitive and of a serious nature. Is there a law out there protecting an internet user from this type of thing?

  • Marinade Dave // June 18, 2009 at 12:16 pm

Yes, and because the Internet crosses borders, the federal government may step in, in which case there is no turning back. Without trying to sound like an alarmist, I would be very careful where to tread.

  • laura // June 18, 2009 at 12:20 pm

That is very good to know. I am staying here til the war is over!

  • Marinade Dave // June 18, 2009 at 12:28 pm

Elements of a Private Facts Claim

A plaintiff must establish four elements to hold someone liable for publication of private facts:

    1. Public Disclosure: The disclosure of facts must be public. Another way of saying this is that the defendant must “give publicity” to the fact or facts in question.
    2. Private Fact: The fact or facts disclosed must be private, and not generally known.
    3. Offensive to a Reasonable Person: Publication of the private facts in question must be offensive to a reasonable person of ordinary sensibilities.
    4. Not Newsworthy: The facts disclosed must not be newsworthy. Stated differently, the facts disclosed must not be a matter of legitimate public concern.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 12:29 pm

Dave~~I have been searching for any laws that protects internet users. I am not involved in anyone slandering or threatening me. I am too nice a person and everyone loves me, even you.
I am looking for info for my own satisfaction and maybe for future reference. I know we have copyright laws and laws to protect children and, of course, the hackers. I am interested in threats of physical harm made by a person via the internet.

  • Marinade Dave // June 18, 2009 at 12:40 pm

If anyone is threatened physically on the Internet, the first line of defense is to contact the local police department to get it in writing. If the threats prove to be real, the federal government will step in and charge the individual with “transmitting in interstate commerce a communication threatening to injure the person of another.”

  • Marinade Dave // June 18, 2009 at 1:32 pm

Thank you, mikka. I wish I could go to it since I live here, but I’d rather go to one when Casey is present. This one is brought on by her parents and Brad Conway.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Just too hot to work in the sun any longer so strawberry icecream time.

Dave~~any predictions if Judge Strickland will release the autopsy report? I cannot see why he wouldn’t. Other evidence was released that I am sure that caused the Anthonys stress. The media will be present with their lawyer this time.
Since this child was a victim of murder, I feel the public has the right to the evidence. That is what the Sunshine Law is all about. I am surprised that Brad Conway thinks he can get the rules bent. If the judge does not release the autopsy results then some folks, in the future, will have to be granted the same privalege.

  • Newbie // June 18, 2009 at 2:22 pm

Dave, do you have an opinion on whether the Anthonys have a leg to stand on or what Judge Strickland may do?

  • Newbie // June 18, 2009 at 2:22 pm

    Sorry, didn’t see detwill’s comment.

  • Marinade Dave // June 18, 2009 at 2:32 pm

I don’t know, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he allows it to be released to the media. At the same time, it never hurts to ask and because of that, I absolutely believe Conway was 100% within his rights to ask. Had Baez not filed a motion, we would be watching that video today.

My guess now is based on Strickland’s demeanor and how he has ruled on other matters. The autopsy results will not be all that incriminating, therefore, they will be released. The Anthonys will have to suffer and the fact remains that the information will be allowed at trial, whereas, the video could have tainted a jury pool. This evidence won’t. Initially, I didn’t think he would allow the media access to the autopsy reports, but I have since changed my mind.

I don’t look at this at all like Conway’s attempt to bend the rules. All attorneys are constantly making inquisitive fishing motions and are supposed to do that for their clients. As for future attempts and whether they are successful or not, each case is always ruled separately since no two cases are alike. Case studies will be brought up during motions, but that doesn’t mean it will apply elsewhere unless they are highly precedent setting.

  • Marinade Dave // June 18, 2009 at 2:33 pm

Hi, Newbie – I just answered that question. My opinion only.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 2:55 pm

Well if all this court time with frivilous motions does not cause the tax payers hardship then so be it. Cindy and George are not on trial. I realize that they had custodial rights for the remains but the murder of this child is now a case before the courts. IMO, this changes who has the rights to view the autopsy results. Why have a Sunshine Laws?

A year has passed and the Anthonys are not so fragile that it keeps them from going on the media. I might add, to promote their foundation.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 2:57 pm

Hi Newbie, I hope everything is going well with you and your flowers are all in bloom.

  • demi50 // June 18, 2009 at 3:18 pm

Judge Strickland “The judge” made the right decision on this case from the start. He was no blind fool and glad he saw thru Caseys lies as he made a comment ie.. “I dont think the truth and Ms. Anthony has met”. not a direct quote but.. jist ….of what he had already seen in Casey and that poor under experienced attorney she had gotten herself. The judge has been very lenient on this guy considering …..The truth is only waiting to unfold and no reason to bring anymore media attention to this case until it goes to court. Hopefully that will go quickly enough in oct. to have the 2nd holiday of so much pain for the innocent ones that are involved to endure.

Boston I am so glad to hear that I was worried. Dee sleeping under a rock does not sound comfortable. lol Good afternoon LA!

  • LosAngeles // June 18, 2009 at 4:16 pm

Dee, one of “our bloggers” is not under attack. What’s happening is that two people on WordPress, each with their own blog, are having a disagreement with each other. They are not posting on each other’s blogs like j. claimed. They’re just posting things about each other on their own blog sites.
And now one, j. , is threatening to dig up mm’s personal information(such as a bankruptcy, etc.) and post it in public. If you follow my link above, j. says so in his own words, copied from comments he came over and made on halfpint’s blog. J. is threatening her that if she doesn’t take down her blog, stop posting, and quit WordPress, he is going to blog about her personal info.(a bankruptcy, etc.). Again, these are j. own words, you can read them on my link above.

I believe this is ridiculous. Automakers and banks are often filing bankruptcy these days. Her son has a brain injury.
Is j. trying to say that people who file bankruptcy are somehow not as good as other people. Give me a break!
    I think it’s a chickensh*t thing to do.

  • Dee // June 18, 2009 at 4:18 pm

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 4:22 pm

One more thing, I have not taken sides in this battle and have stayed neutral. You can form your own opinions of me and they will remain as such, just opinions.

No apology necessary. I think we all agree it’s no fun when we see our fellow bloggers fighting. We want to offer support but it’s not always in our best interests to do so.

  • Marinade Dave // June 18, 2009 at 4:53 pm

So, you had some rain, Newbie! Laura mentioned that earlier, too.

As for tomorrow’s decision, it should be pretty interesting. Either way, it will give us something new to discuss.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 4:54 pm

Newbie~~I agree about the hot potato. After Judge Strickland mentioned it was inflammatory, now I want to see it. The Orlando Sentinel can go to court and present their case and try to overrule the judges decision. I am unsure if they will go to that extent but it sure would make their ratings shoot for the moon.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 4:57 pm

Newbie~~I am so glad the sun gave your flowers back their health. I know different times my garden was all manicured and a showcase and then came the wind and rain…God love those plants, they are tough little devils.

  • laura // June 18, 2009 at 5:07 pm

Detwill was the ice cream good? By the way Dee I am well. Glad to hear you didn’t sleep under rock thought you had been to the spa.

  • Dee // June 18, 2009 at 5:13 pm

Spa, laura ! What spa? Sheesh, I miss EVERYTHING !

  • Newbie // June 18, 2009 at 5:36 pm

I wasn’t very clear. All of the hail, rains causing flooding, and rain and high winds were separate storms. The flowers were a little set back here and there and about the time they were looking good again, we would have another troublesome storm. It is amazing how quickly they recover.

Regarding the video, you know the defense is going to fight hard to keep it from being submitted into evidence at the trial. If it were released to the public now and then it found later to have violated Casey’s rights, …well…you can take it from there. It would be a bell that could not be “un-rung”.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 5:46 pm

Newbie~~ The judge made the right decision re that video. I am sure he thought of an ‘appeal’..I really like Strickland and he seems to be fair to both sides. He just better release that autopsy info for us to pick apart. I am running out of fuel to keep this fire burning.

  • laura // June 18, 2009 at 6:58 pm

Dee sorry rocks, spa…. I thought you had to been to the spa. You didn’t miss anything, I think under a rock was a joke that I never heard. lol

  • LosAngeles // June 18, 2009 at 6:59 pm

You know, there are certain plants(and I believe flowers too) that can withstand certain weather conditions.
Some can withstand heavy heat and little water. Some can withstand coldness. It’s fascinating.

  • LosAngeles // June 18, 2009 at 7:34 pm

Detwill, in your post at June 15, 2:51 pm, you gave a link to an article called, “Timeline-One Year Ago.” I read that article. It gave me a quick look back, and it reminded me of the text messages between Casey and Tony Rusciano.

When the police first asked him if he knew Casey he said no, and I believe the second time he tried to minimize it too. Then finally, he admitted knowing her. When Tony R. is texting Casey he says, “Be productive and come over here.” So being “productive” in his mind is her having sex with him apparently. He never took her out on dates or anything, just wanted her to come over his place and have sex, and he also knew she had a two-year-old. So Casey allowed herself to be verbally abused by this guy, amongst other things.

In Tony R.’s interview, John Allen is pointing out that in her text to Tony R., Casey said, “I’m sad. I’ve been sad all day. Shit, I’ve been sad for days.” Then John Allen asks Tony R., “Do you know what she was sad about?” Tony R. says, “No,no. Casey would always say things totally out of nowhere. We’ll be talking about something, and then Casey will say something like that, and, you know, like what the hell are you talking about?” So, in other words, Tony R. doensn’t want Casey talking about her feelings or anything like that — but just stop talking, come over my place, and have sex.

Also, I noticed that Tony R. doesn’t sound very much like a cop when he talks. He says in his interview with police, “When we went out, I always f*cking paid” and then, in the text message, when Casey said “My mom’s too tired to watch Caylee,” Tony R. said, “Well, ask the other b*tch to watch her”(meaning Zanni).

I can’t say I’m surprised that he lost his job.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 8:17 pm

Anthony Rusciano left nothing to be desired. During his interview with LE, he came across as being ‘brain dead’ and had to be prompted by LE hauling up the text messages. He also put Jesse Grund down in his interview by snide remarks, whenever he had the opportunity to sneak them in. As a result of lying, in the beginning, that he only knew Casey in passing and later stumbling thru his interview, he was fired. OCSD are not stupid and are better for not having him on the force.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 8:43 pm

Reference the decision on motion to release the autopsy results tomorrow. I found a couple snippits at Blink On Crime…

This motion was filed with the States Attorneys Office only and not even in Circuit Court. It was never served on the members of the media it refers to.
In Conways motion disguised as an actual motion, George and Cindy Anthony claim to have an executed Power of Attorney over Caylee’s remains from their daughter Casey Anthony. Notice I used the word claim. In Brad Conways motion to the court, Conway references the POA, but never includes it as an exhibit, which would of course be required.

I notice in Brad’s motion, a signed document re POA was not attached. Brad only referenced that the Anthony’s had the POA for Caylee’s remains, signed by the biological mother. He did not specify biological mother, Casey Anthony. I found this a bit unusual.

Here is a copy of when the motion for release was stayed… From this, I would assume, we should see those autopsy results unless they hold it over again and have a hearing. Also, keep in mind that Brad Conway waited until the last minute to file the motion.

  • LosAngeles // June 18, 2009 at 8:43 pm

True, the OCSD are not stupid, and I believe they are better off for not having him on the force.
Luckily, some of the other people interviewed by police were more forthcoming.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 9:02 pm

Dave~~check your spam when you get a chance. I noticed an old friend commenting at Blink On Crime and she is still doing a great job.

  • LosAngeles // June 18, 2009 at 9:03 pm

Detwill, I’m sorry if I was insinuating that you were taking sides.
It was bad wording on my part.

  • Detwill39 // June 18, 2009 at 9:19 pm

LosAngeles~~no problem on my end. I learned a long time ago not to take sides. Actually my wording came across differently than what I had intended. I certainly do not agree with either of what those two bloggers are doing. One is as stubborn as the other. What J is doing is exactly what M did a few months ago and that is, disclose personal info. M did not do it to J but it was to a commenter who she disagreed with. She displayed their email addy on her blog until WordPress had to intervene and make her delete it. There are generally two sides to every story… I would rather fight with Dave and stay away from over yonder.

  • Gina // June 19, 2009 at 5:32 am

I disagree that Judge Strickland is doing what’s best for Caylee’s murder trial. I think Judge Strickland is caving in to pressure & the giant freak show this case has become.

The ‘dream team’ are filing so many motions, the Scamthonys’ & their lawyer making the rounds tainting the jury pool that Strickland is losing confidence & is seemingly confused about what Florida law is, what’s right & wrong.

So I’m at the end of my rope & will distance myself from this case until it starts which might be the next century…or not. The Scamthony’s, Baez the whole mess of Casey’s blood sucking defenders are achieving their goal to divert, deflect, point fingers & confuse.

(They succeeded in intimidating Judge Strickland, he’s now unclear about the Sunshine Law which should allow the release of Casey’s video’d reaction to the finding of Caylee’s remains…isn’t it classified as public record..hello!)

I just can’t stand it Judge Strickland is becoming The A’s little bi*** just like law enforcement. I will go on to my other cause which is animal welfare. It’s intolerable what they are getting by with & I won’t be surprised if Casey goes free.

Horrible thought but something we all must face, especially when she has the best defense money can buy without paying them..or is she?? Who the hell knows anymore but Caylee is gone may she rest in peace & I’ll keep my fingers crossed her killer will remain where she is for life. But I’m done with obsessing, the daily blogging between that & my cat recently passing away my stomachs been sick for days.
    I’m just done with it!

One more thing, can’t we all admit how badly we wanted that video released? How in the world would releasing it help Casey now or mess up the trial? That’s a flimsy GD excuse I don’t buy it. He’s being intimidated & manipulated by Casey’s defense & family…period. If Strickland followed the Sunshine Law there’s nothing to fear that would hurt the prosecution later, nothing.

I wanted to see the video because I know it proves her guilt without a doubt. How could that ever be wrong now or later, IT IS WHAT IT IS..bad for Casey! Now I hear it might not even come out during the trial. God help the legal system & justice for Caylee if that’s allowed to happen. But it very well could & probably will.

Everyone’s more worried about Casey’s rights than Caylee’s, to hell with that, if I was Strickland I’d follow the law & take my chances but he’s not man enough or confident about his position as a Judge to make tough correct decisions…so we’ll see.

My last post here or anywhere else about Caylee until the trial is over!

  • Gina // June 19, 2009 at 5:34 am

God that was way too long, just realized it when I posted sorry I look kind of ridiculous but am PO’d & vented.

  • Boston // June 19, 2009 at 7:29 am

Gina-Everyone gets there sometime. It is a tough case but patience is a virtue when things get chaotic. If everyone goes through the “motions” in a calm and civilized manner there will be more to feel good about when the jury renders their verdict.

Det-I knew you would understand what I had to do. I hate to see people in pain over something that could have been resolved with silence. You know what I alwlays say, “Silence has a melody all its own” .

L.A. It’s too bad that when people come in contact with Casey Anthony more often than not bad things happen. No matter what you think of Mr Rusciano’s moral and ethical behavior relative to Casey (and his lies about knowledge of her) is peanuts compared to what Casey did. Why is it okay to take everyone who knew Casey Anthony to the public square and slam them?

Isn’t it enough that he lost his job?

  • Marinade Dave // June 19, 2009 at 8:45 am

Gee, Gina, you certainly sound very biased. I had no idea a dumb family could wield so much power over the entire court system and the media. GD, those Anthonys are some mighty powerful people. What I’d like to know is what law school did you graduate from to make such a denigrating assessment of Strickland? And law enforcement, too? Wow! Why don’t you just come out and tell us like it is in your world? You think Floridians suck and one family is controlling our state.

I live in Florida, in Orlando as a matter of fact, and I resent accusations like that. If we are a bunch of morons, why is that girl sitting in a jail cell facing the death penalty?

  • Detwill39 // June 19, 2009 at 10:11 am

Good morning Dave, Boston and everyone!

I wonder what the judge’s decision will be today but we will know soon.

It looks like some folks are getting Anthony burnout and I can understand their frustrations. Some folks are beginning to think that Casey may get off and feel our justice system is taking the back seat to ‘money’ and ‘emotions’. IMO, this is definitely not the case and time will prove that the ‘fears’ of these people are unfounded. We have only been seeing one side of this case because the prosecution avoids the cameras. There is alot going on behind the scenes and I think the end result will make us proud of our law enforcement.

Dave~~it looks like I have adopted your fair state as my own. Well, I have to respect the state of our gracious moderator.

  • Marinade Dave // June 19, 2009 at 10:22 am

Thank you, detwill39, and good morning to you. The hearing doesn’t start until 11, but I think the judge has already formulated an opinion and it won’t take long to render a decision. I think he will side with the media because autopsy reports are a matter of public record. This one is no different in the eyes of the law.

  • Detwill39 // June 19, 2009 at 10:36 am

Dave~~how are you making out with your travel story? I can’t wait to read of your trip, the way you write, I get a free vacation.

Here is some good gossip and it really touched my heart when I read it. John and Monica have come to an agreement to help each other. They had a chance to communicate behind the scenes and found they have alot in common. The invites are out to comment on each other’s blogs. There may be disagreement arise but, at least, this is a positive beginning. Both these two people are intelligent and can make good contributions.

  • Marinade Dave // June 19, 2009 at 10:49 am

I’ve been working on the trip story. I started it yesterday and I hope to finish it today. I don’t know when I will put it up. I guess it depends on what surfaces on the Anthony front, but there are going to be a lot of pictures on this post. It will have a little humor, some history and an overall view of the trip itself with where we went and what I observed.

I’m glad the two of them came to an epiphany of sorts. This whole affair is about Casey and I hate to see people get into hissy fits among themselves.

  • Boston // June 19, 2009 at 11:19 am

Gina-I can recall very clearly last summer when I heard the opening salvo on HLN news that a child was missing and that the mother never reported her missing for 31 days. She never said the child was abducted or that the child was dead-just that she was missing.

Shortly thereafter I am walking through to my deck and backyard when I hear a recording of her comments to LE as well as a telephone conversation asking her mother to look for Tony’s cellphone number. I thought at that time that the grandmother should have asked Casey where her MISSING child was. For God’s sake forget the missing cellphone number. I knew right then and there (much like the rest of the world) that this mother was disordered and that the people who were dealing with her were scared of her. Not LE but certainly the mother. Fear in the sense that the grandmother knew enough not to ask. Once Cindy knew that her conversations were recorded she never, ever asked her what HER involvement was-only about others possible involvement. Cindy even admitted that Zanny was a real person. We know the Anthony’s lie but it will mean nothing once they get into the courtroom.

But what I want to tell you was how professional each and every person was who has had to deal with her from the moment she was arrested up to and including today. These people are top notch. The Florida FBI, The Orlando Police as well as the OCSD have a world-class reputation for ethics and crime scene investigation technique second to none. I read a report after 911 that stated that Florida was one of the few states who combines LE intelligence and does not work independently but collaboratively in high profile cases or those which need a combined task force. We have seen this over and over again when we hear about the horrific crimes against children on the nightly news. Dockett, Cummings, the darling Lungren (sp) and Caylee Anthony.

The DAs, LE and all the lawyers on both sides are working tirelessly to see that a fair trial is given to Casey Anthony. It will absolutely NEVER matter what Mr and Mrs Anthony said after the fact. The DA can charge them but it will in all probability not corrupt the evidence that was gained from hard core, disciplined investigative techniques, crime scene information and interviews. These are mighty steady people. They are in control. Who could ask for a more fair and balanced judge than the Honorable Judge Strickland.

No one can say that justice for Caylee was below standard. Don’t underestimate people and their job performance until you evaluate their work product. Watch the trial and allow all those child advocates educate you.

Laura – everyone – Good Morning

  • Dee // June 19, 2009 at 11:50 am

I agree Dave and Detwill – So nice to have those two on friendly terms again. It is stressful when people fight/argue.

  • Marinade Dave // June 19, 2009 at 11:59 am

It’s never a good thing to fight. Besides, it shows a real weakness, especially when made so public.

  • LosAngeles // June 19, 2009 at 4:51 pm

    Boston, I didn’t “slam” anybody.
I was stating facts about Tony Rusciano
    from the documents in evidence.
“Slamming” is something different. I’ll give you an examples of slamming:
#1 John Doe has a lump on his back. He looks like the hunchback of Notre Dame. hahaha.
#2 I just dug up John Doe’s records from 20 years ago him and his wife were separated, but neither could move out because they couldn’t afford to, and he was seeing another woman. Well, well, well, looks like you’re caught, Johnny boy. hahaha. Bingo!
#3 John Doe is a Loser! haha.
#4 OMG I just found out. John Doe works in a donut shop. hah!
Again, I did none of the above. I was just quoting Tony R.’s own words from the documents in evidence.

You said what Tony R. did was peanuts compared to what Casey did. I don’t understand what that has to do with anything because:
    #1 This isn’t a contest.
#2 It’s not like if two people are being talked about, one has to be the good guy, and therefore the other one is the bad guy. This isn’t a network TV movie, the kind they had before cable TV came out. Both people could be bad people, or both people could be great people.

It’s so obvious what Casey did. It goes without saying. Almost everyone here knows about Casey and knows how I feel about Casey. It’s already a given, and just because we don’t constantly repeat it about her, doesn’t mean we feel any different about it. It’s a given.
    We already how Casey is.

Also there have been people who knew Casey who were very cooperative with the police and conducted themselves in an honorable manner. I’ve talked about them with other people on other blogs. So, therefore, when you say:
“Why is it okay to take everyone who knew Casey Anthony to the public square and slam them? ” that doesn’t make any sense to me.

  • Marinade Dave // June 19, 2009 at 5:03 pm

The only thing I would like to add to this is that the state/prosecutors would like this case to be like a well oiled machine when it goes to trial. If Tony R. inhibited the prosecution’s case in any way, it would add fuel to the defense. If Casey walks because of mistakes like that, then yes, she could get away with murder. Therefore, although you are correct that this is not a contest, I don’t think that is what Boston was implying, and if Tony R. is but one peanut, a whole bunch of them could make a cluster f*ck for the state. Excuse my language.

  • Gina // June 20, 2009 at 3:57 am

Boston, I wasn’t going to write again but here I am. Det. Yuri Melich is awesome, I have a crush on him, joking but OC LE are very professional.

What’s bothered me the past few weeks were the Anthony’s hi jinks, chasing people in vehicles, pal Dennis Milstead impersonating LE by using strobe flashing lights to pull civilians over. Where I live they’d arrest you, it’s no better than FL just different in that respect. But no, I love FL, the Sunshine Law is great & unique.

But between the A’s minor criminal actions & major ones like lying under oath, obstruction of justice, tampering with evidence, I wonder what it will take to stop them from doing whatever they please to whomever they please.

What I find most detestable & unforgivable… there aggressive efforts to throw innocent people under the bus, attempts to frame Jesse, Richard Grund makes me livid.

Today went well, justice prevailed with the release of Caylee’s autopsy. It’s the saddest thing in the world, tape placed not once but several times around the skull, hair. But it needed to be made public so certain rumors & defense accusations are put to rest.

Sorry I was harsh, never thought of it as a slam against FL. As a former La. resident who drove to Fl beaches regularly I adore it, so though it might have come off that way it was just misplaced anger.

  • Barbie Girl // June 24, 2009 at 6:47 pm

BLOGGERS – I know everyone on here is intrigued by what happened to Caylee and the details are extraordinarily absorbing.

But now that the weather is nice, I think it might do all of us some good (and that includes Dave as well) if we went outside and took in the fresh air and spent some time basking and playing in the sunshine.

We should do that…..because Caylee can’t. In memory of little Caylee we should go out and enjoy nature, give someone a hug, brighten another person’s day.

Caylee brightened all of our days and we never even knew her.

If she is looking down on all of us she might find the fuss being made over her death frightening and unnecessary.

I think we should let little Caylee rest in peace.
