In 1984, I came up with a word that describes paintings of Elvis you sometimes see on velvet. It was velvis. I am proud of that word and Wikipedia recognizes me as the person who coined it. It is also acknowledged on Urban Dictionary, although that was my own entry.
Prior to velvis, I came up with reincornation. Yes, the spelling is correct. Here is my description of the word:
re·in·cor·na·tion (n) \ˌrē-(ˌ)in-(ˌ)kor-ˈnā-shən\ 1: What happens to corn, or maize, that is not chewed properly, during the digestion process. The portion not fully digested, mostly kernels that enter the stomach intact, continue through the alimentary canal and are discharged through the anus in the form of poopcorn, also known as corn on the log and corn logs.
Used in a sentence:
When Cathy returned from the country corn carnival, she had no idea reincornation would come back to haunt her the next day.

Ha!,
what a way to immortalize yourself! Well job!
Oh, and by the way I did actually send an e-mail and samples to your cousin, so thanks for the suggestion!

Why, thank you, Gary. Which word will immortalize me, though? I think I’d rather be remembered for velvis than a word that means corn infused excrement.
I’m glad you sent info to my cousin. I hope she gets back to you. You certainly do nice art work. Thinking back, even her father got his start illustrating pulp magazines back in the thirties, before he started to write. If you don’t hear from her in a while, let me know. I’ll call my uncle.
By the way, you should take a swatch from one of your cartoon characters and turn it into a gravatar. That way, it will follow you wherever you post or respond to a comment. Just another way to garner interest in your work.

well, “velvis” seems the be the star, however I must confess that “reincornation”, has a place closer to my heart!
-good Idea about the gravatar, I’ll have to get my GF to help me with one though since I can barely manage to post on my blog lol.

I’m glad you have the intestinal fortitude to admit you like reincornation over velvis. I can’t say which one I prefer. It’s like playing favorites with your own children.
A gravatar is easy to make. If you or your girlfriend need any help, I’ll be glad to send some your way.

I love this one. Question: how did you get the IPA symbols on there? Did you copy and paste from Word?
Marinade Dave // June 25, 2008 at 9:56 pm
I’m kind of fond of it myself. Straight from my gut.
I did a copy and paste. I figured I could find “reincarnation” in an online dictionary with pronunciation and symbols. I did and I changed the “a” to an “o” and bingo, I had it.
Try this site and see if it works for you. Same thing, copy and paste:

That’s just what I was looking for. When I got my Mac, I was a little confused as to how to insert arcane symbols even in Word (until I found the character map), so I had to stop including the pronunciation with my neologisms for a while. Thanks!
Marinade Dave // June 27, 2008 at 7:30 am
I’m glad it helped out. I noticed you used it on your latest neologism post as I was playing the Internet time traveler. I tried to leave a comment before you wrote the post, “On Time Travel”, but it didn’t work.

I would love to give it a try and invent a new word.
How about resurgencitation, from regurgitation (sort of vomitting, wikip.) and resurgence (meaning: ‘a rising again into live activity’ according to http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/resurgence )
Resurgencitation meaning: getting sick just thinking of the work you are supposed to do.
I feel a severe case of resurgencitation coming up, but there is no way I can get around my 2300 words today
It is fun playing with words. Was this any good?

I kind of liked that word
But hey, what do I know.
Marinade Dave // May 14, 2009 at 9:44 am
I missed your comment, Ina. Sorry about that. It is a comical word, I think.
